    • Awesome '90s Fashion Trends We Miss

Somewhere between paying the bills, picking up groceries, and doing laundry, I've been feeling nostalgic for my carefree childhood. I'd love to go back to the days when Nintendo 64 was cutting edge technology and scrunchies were the "it" accessory. Since time machines don't actually exist, I've had to settle with a complete Spice Girls song list on my iPod.

      Slap Bracelets

It was a dark day in the early '90s when schools started banning slap bracelets after one New York City elementary school student removed the bracelet's fabric covering and suffered a nasty cut that required stitches. Her

    • Remove Your Tattoo or Get Fired: One City's Shocking Law

Have a tattoo? Whether it's a tiny heart on your wrist or a giant butterfly on your shoulder, you'd be under fire for having a visible tattoo if you're a government employee in Osaka, Japan. The city is cracking down on tattoos in the workplace, forcing government employees to admit where they're inked and even ordering them to get their visible tattoos removed -- not exactly a simple, cheap, or pain-free process.

Tattoo laws are known for being pretty strict in Japan, even banning tattooed guests from going to certain gyms or water parks. Osaka's mayor is particularly concerned with tattooed teachers, because they could be "intimidating for the children." Schoolteachers with tats won't be fired, but they will be required to remove their tattoos if the students could potentially get a glimpse.

    • Is This the Trashiest Beauty Pageant?

When I think of beauty pageants, I think of frozen smiles, flawless gowns, and not a hair out of place. I don't think of contestants strutting the runway in a shredded garbage bag or thousands of bottle caps, but that's exactly what happened during the recent Miss England pageant. All the hopefuls competed in an eco-friendly round where they took to the catwalk in homemade outfits made entirely from recycled materials. Even more shocking? This round replaced the usual swimsuit competition in an effort to fight the fluffy image of beauty contests.

So what kind of recycled getups did the girls cobble together? One made a bottle cap dress, another used newspaper and magazine ads, and another made a gown out of feathers and fake flowers. The green element is a refreshing change of pace, making things lighthearted and not so serious, but still drawing attention to an important worldwide issue. With Miss USA recently winning for her

    • Beachy Hairstyles You Need to Try This Summer

When it comes to summer hair, I have a strict no-fuss policy. That is, I vow to never spend more than 5 or 10 minutes tops getting ready. Go ahead and call me a lazy girl (I wrote that beauty guide, right here), but I'd much rather be at the beach than spending hours styling my hair in my stuffy bathroom with a broken AC.

But even though I'm anti-primping, I still would like to look cute. So I asked a few celebrity hairstylists for some beachy styles that are super quick and easy to do. Bottom line: you'll want to try them all ASAP.

      Coastline Curls

Bouncy, whip-worthy hair looks just as luxurious on the beach as it does at an elegant party. (Just make sure you wash the sand out of it before your night out on the town.) New York City-based hairstylist Joshua Barrett gives us the scoop on how to get pretty, seaside curls:

      1. Begin by using a volumizing spray on damp hair, concentrating the

    • Creepiest Guy Ever? Obsessed Fan Gets 15 Miley Cyrus Tattoos

In today's fan/stalker news, a man who goes by the Twitter handle "MileyCyrusCarl" is so obsessed with the 19-year-old pop star that he recently got his 15th Miley-themed tattoo. Just some of his tats include the world "OBSESSED" (the name of a Miley song but also very, very appropriate) on his right arm, and her name spelled out on his chest and his knuckles. Yikes. But the most unsettling tattoo of all? A giant portrait of her face on his forearm. Let's just say … Miley's looked better.

We're all for creative expression, but this guy is really taking fandom to a whole new, alarming level. "Carl" devotes his Twitter profile to Cyrus, writing, "Miley Cyrus u are a Miracle. I love u so much x nobody is more beautiful & talented & sexy as u. I have 15 tattoos of u! There's an Angel in LA xxxx." Hmm … even with all 15 Miley tattoos, we highly doubt this dude is about to take the place of Liam Hemsworth.

    • How Young is Too Young for High Heels?

It's called the Suri Cruise effect. Little girls wearing high heels -- and we're not just talking about playing in mom's closet. Now, it seems like designers have caught on to this unsettling trend, making heels (as high as three inches) for kids as young as six. Michael Kors offers several heels for tots, including three-inch espadrilles for $74, and a two-inch glitter heel for $66. And before you write this off as a rich-kid phenomenon, know that other moderately priced stores have jumped on the bandwagon.

Target is currently selling a two-inch espadrille for $20, while Jessica Simpson Kids and Kenneth Cole Kids also make heels for little ones. And while we're a little (OK, a lot) disturbed about this "growing up too fast" trend, there are actually real health problems that come with kids tottering on unstable shoes. Doctors say they not only damage feet and posture, but they can also cause certain leg muscles to shorten and others to

    • McDonalds: Most Fashionable Fast Food Chain?

When I think of McDonalds, I think Double Quarter Pounder with cheese or French fries (and now I'm officially hungry). I definitely don't associate the fast food chain with fashion. But apparently, McDonalds has a secret chic side. In England, designer Wayne Hemingway has teamed up with McDonalds to create sleek new "Mad Men"-inspired uniforms for the workers.

The uniforms are meant to have a slight retro, '60s vibe. No more baseball caps or bright red and yellow. Instead, the men will be outfitted in mocha brown skinny ties, women are in pencil skirts, and both will wear Fred Perry-esque polo shirts. Pretty fancy for fast food. Hemingway admitted that some people were initially weirded out by his latest collaboration with Mickey D's. "Yes, when we first started working with McDonald's we got a lot of comments and eyebrows were raised," said Hemingway.

    • Drop Crotch Pants: Most Unflattering Trend Ever?

There are a few burning questions that keep me up at night: What is the true meaning of life?; How can we ever achieve world peace?; and Why on earth do celebrities keep wearing drop crotch pants? Seriously, what is the deal? It makes sense if you're Aladdin, and sure, MC Hammer kinda pulled it off, but other than that … who does this style look good on? Even the name "drop crotch" sounds unflattering. (Crotches aren't meant to be dropped.)

      Related: OMFG Hair Accessories

When drop crotch skinny jeans (see here) came out earlier this year, we figured they were just a brief fad, destined to fade away after 15 minutes. But shockingly the saggy diaper trend didn't die. If anything, it's experienced a resurgence of sorts. Let's take a look at some of the most recent offenders.

    • So This Happened: Adidas "Shackle" Sneakers

Earlier this month Kanye West's Nike "Air Yeezy II" sneakers sold on eBay for $90,000 and everybody was all up in arms that someone would pay the price of a Lexus for shoes. But that little upset is nothing compared to the latest sneaker controversy.

Adidas teamed up with eccentric designer Jeremy Scott to create a pair of sneakers called the "Roundhouse Mids." Each shoe has a plastic handcuff, or shackle, attached. The product's tagline is, "Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?"

      Related: Worst Celebrity Clothing Lines

OK, so we get the "locked down" pun, but how did they not see the racial implications in having sneakers with shackles attached to the ankles? Adidas posted the sneakers on their Facebook page, and it wasn't long before the outraged comments started pouring in. One commenter wrote, "Where does the Respect Begin and End for our people. Boycott Please!" And other commented, "I will never buy another Adidas product again as long as

    • Does Gisele Bundchen Deserve to Earn $45M?

It's official: Gisele Bundchen is the 1%. According to Forbes, Gisele Bundchen is officially the highest paid model in the world, raking in a cool $45 million. The 31-year-old Brazilian supermodel makes most of her cash off of endorsement deals including Versace, H&M, Pantene, and Esprit -- just to rattle off a few. And it doesn't look like anyone's going to steal the catwalk crown from Bundchen anytime soon … she won by a major landslide, with 38-year-old Kate Moss coming in a distant second, earing a paltry $9.2 million.

We give Bundchen major props: she's made a household name for herself and clearly works hard. But … here's the head-scratcher: she makes more than four times what Kate Moss earns. And it's not like Moss is sitting around eating bonbons (clearly), she also has a ton of endorsement deals under her belt including TopShop, Rimmel London, Mango, and Longchamp.
