After seeing how boring my hair looked in my New Year's Eve pictures, my resolution was to try something new. So I asked my stylist to give me a pixie (extreme, I know), inspired by this picture of Rihanna. I loved the result -- it was short, sassy, and easy to style.

Or so I thought. After a few days of using wax to turn my hair piece-y and funky, I started to get bored of it. Don't get me wrong, I love my new cut, but I was feeling a little stumped on what looks I should try next.

Luckily, I'm not the only one at the office who has short hair. One of our other staffers here has had a pixie for a while now, and she was happy to help me find ideas on how to style short hair -- by doing them on herself first.

I once heard you should spend more money on your hair than on your clothing, since you "wear" your hair every day. If that's true, these celebs are doing something right.

We're talking major dough, though you may be surprised that this celeb (known for her sexy black hair) actually spends the least on our list; as well as this dye-addicted singer.

While this might be a tough question for you, it's a no-brainer for me. Definitely Target. Their clothing prices are super cheap, even without the help of those crazy sales they have. And I can buy pieces from amazing designers like Missoni for a fraction of the cost (… well, if I can beat the crowds and survive a few elbows to the face).

While I know I'm not alone with my Target love, I wanted to see what stores other women would pick. So I posted this question on Facebook to see which stores our readers are obsessed with. At first, the answers (and the reasoning behind them) were pretty close to mine. Most picked stores like Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and H&M.

What's your sexiest outfit? I can name a dozen or so looks that make me feel sexy. (These outfits usually include gold and/or animal print.) But ask my boyfriend what he thinks is sexy, and you'd probably get a completely different answer.

To find out just how different our ideas of sexy are, we decided to try a little experiment. We asked our coworker Mandy to pick out her sexiest outfit, then asked her boyfriend Mike to do the same for her. Mandy's Take: "I love this purple dress/blazer combo. Not only is the zipper sexy -- I can choose how much to unzip -- but I also like how the blazer adds a more fashion-forward, classy feel. This look is sexy because it's fashionable and powerful."

When it comes to manicures, some steps are considered no brainers. For example, apply a base coat. It's the first lesson in Manis 101. So, imagine my surprise when I sat down with celeb manicurist Debbie Leavitt and the first words out of her mouth were "never use a base coat."

Ditch Your Nail File

According to Leavitt, most women are using the wrong nail tools when it comes to DIY manicures. One of the top offenders? Your nail file.

Here's why: The most common emery boards, like the ones you buy at the drugstore, have extremely tough grit. Nail files are identified by numbers -- the higher the number, the finer the grit. Common nail files rank at 80 or 100, but Leavitt

I stink at putting on eyeliner. Seriously though, every time I attempt a sexy cat eye I come out looking like this. Not that there's anything wrong with the whole heavy liner Taylor Momsen thing, but I want to look a little less raccoon-y and little more bright-eyed (my life isn't quite as punk rock as hers).
