Here's why everyone needs a best friend. When I met mine for dinner last night, she took one look at my lips and said, "Since when were you trying to be goth?" I wasn't, of course. I was just trying out this new dark berry lipstick, which didn't really feel like "me" in the first place. But of course, my best friend already knew that -- and called me out on it.

So when I got home, I threw out all of my dark shades of lipstick, and decided to find a perfect lip look based on my personality. After taking this quiz, I found out that every woman falls into one of these five categories, depending on her personality:

From making a speech to making the first move, you exude confidence in whatever you do, and many respect you for that. So it's no wonder that people are naturally drawn to you. According to makeup artist Lijha Stewart, this look is one that demands attention, and is the trademark of an independent woman. She also says

Read More »from 4 Short Hairstyles You've Never Seen BeforeAfter seeing how boring my hair looked in my New Year's Eve pictures, my resolution was to try something new. So I asked my stylist to give me a pixie (extreme, I know), inspired by this picture of Rihanna. I loved the result -- it was short, sassy, and easy to style.
Or so I thought. After a few days of using wax to turn my hair piece-y and funky, I started to get bored of it. Don't get me wrong, I love my new cut, but I was feeling a little stumped on what looks I should try next.

Luckily, I'm not the only one at the office who has short hair. One of our other staffers here has had a pixie for a while now, and she was happy to help me find ideas on how to style short hair -- by doing them on herself first.

By BeautyRiot Diva | Beauty on Shine – Fri, Jan 6, 2012 11:16 AM ESTI once heard you should spend more money on your hair than on your clothing, since you "wear" your hair every day. If that's true, these celebs are doing something right.
We rounded up the top 10 celebs with the most expensive haircuts. And frankly, it's downright shocking how much they're spending. We're talking major dough, though you may be surprised that this celeb (known for her sexy black hair) actually spends the least on our list; as well as this dye-addicted singer.
But let's face it: We really don't care about who spends the least. It's all about who spends the most. Can you guess which newly engaged it girl spends $950 on her cut and color? Click here to find out. And while that might seem extreme, this super star -- with her weekly $2,000 haircare bill -- knocks every celeb out of the park.

Their clothing prices are super cheap, even without the help of those crazy sales they have. And I can buy pieces from amazing designers like Missoni for a fraction of the cost (… well, if I can beat the crowds and survive a few elbows to the face).

While I know I'm not alone with my Target love, I wanted to see what stores other women would pick. So I posted this question on Facebook to see which stores our readers are obsessed with. At first, the answers (and the reasoning behind them) were pretty close to mine. Most picked stores like Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and H&M.

Then a few women gave answers like Bloomingdale's and Harrods. Sure, it would be nice, but definitely not in my price range. So for the sake of our poll, let's say you have to shop with your current budget. Which store would you choose to shop atWhich Young Celebs Make the Most Money? We Found Out

What I didn't expect was young celebs like Dakota Fanning and Abigail Breslin getting such huge paychecks. They're not even 18 yet! How is it possible for a teenager to make this much cash?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not jealous or anything. I was just curious to see just what I missed out on by not having a pushy stage mom like this Disney star. So I looked it up.

Ever heard of the show "Wizards of Waverly Place"? It's apparently the second most popular Disney program of all time (after "Hannah Montana," of course). By BeautyRiot Diva | At Home – Tue, Jan 3, 2012 1:25 PM ESTWhat's your sexiest outfit? I can name a dozen or so looks that make me feel sexy. (These outfits usually include gold and/or animal print.) But ask my boyfriend what he thinks is sexy, and you'd probably get a completely different answer.

To find out just how different our ideas of sexy are, we decided to try a little experiment. We asked our coworker Mandy to pick out her sexiest outfit, then asked her boyfriend Mike to do the same for her. (It's like a mini version of this weeklong dare when one of our editors let her BF dress her for a week. Check that out here.) Let's see what happened …
Mandy's Sexy Outfit
Mandy's Take: "I love this purple dress/blazer combo. Not only is the zipper sexy -- I can choose how much to unzip -- but I also like how the blazer adds a more fashion-forward, classy feel. This look is sexy because it's fashionable and powerful."
Mike's Take: "I definitely think this

By BeautyRiot Diva | Beauty on Shine – Thu, Dec 29, 2011 12:32 PM ESTWhen it comes to manicures, some steps are considered no brainers. For example, apply a base coat. It's the first lesson in Manis 101. So, imagine my surprise when I sat down with celeb manicurist Debbie Leavitt and the first words out of her mouth were "never use a base coat."

Leavitt says it's not only unnecessary, but also it causes polish to chip faster. (To read why, click here.) And that's not the only big bombshell she shared. Check out a few highlights below or see the full list of secrets here:
According to Leavitt, most women are using the wrong nail tools when it comes to DIY manicures. One of the top offenders? Your nail file.

By BeautyRiot Diva | Beauty on Shine – Tue, Dec 27, 2011 8:47 PM ESTI stink at putting on eyeliner. Seriously though, every time I attempt a sexy cat eye I come out looking like this. Not that there's anything wrong with the whole heavy liner Taylor Momsen thing, but I want to look a little less raccoon-y and little more bright-eyed (my life isn't quite as punk rock as hers). I've tried studying pictures and reading tons of how-to's, but no matter how hard I try I just can't seem to master it.
But starting in 2012, I have vowed to become the cat eye makeup pro -- and to invest in the proper liner and brushes too. Thankfully, I'm not the only editor with a beauty resolution this year. Here are some of our editors' plans for 2012:
Alexis: "I want to remember to apply eyeshadow, at least once a week."
Jane: "Mine is to get a manicure every month. I usually let my polish chip for way too long."

Maybe it was because of my holey T-shirt and baggy sweatpants, or because my hair was going in at least five different directions, kinda like this celeb's.

This year, I'd rather not deal with the looks (not to mention my grandma lecturing me on "acting like a lady"). But there's no way I'm waking up at 6 a.m. for a full hair and makeup session. I'm just going to try these quick tips to "get ready" the night before come in handy. This way, I won't lose any sleep, or catch flack from my uptight relatives.
Tip no. 1: Wear cute pajamas the night before
Trust me, it's possible to find a pair of cute PJ's that don't make you think of pigtails. I can totally see myself perched on the couch, wearing these adorable Victoria's Secret ones, can't you?

Re-gifting is tricky, since I rarely remember who gives me stuff and the potential for that awkward moment when you re-gift to the giver is high.
My solution? To keep a few bottles of wine on hand as generic last minute gifts. And as I inevitably drink them before actually gifting them, these DIY presents:Gift No. 1: Fabulous Feather Earrings
