Researchers at Louisiana State University have found the newest superfood: black rice. What Chinese royalty, in ancient times, deemed a sacred food only to be eaten by the royals, is now being called a super-charged source of antioxidants by scientists, whose study was presented at a recent meeting of the American Chemical Society.

In fact, a single spoonful of black rice bran contains more health promoting anthocyanin antioxidants than those found in a spoonful of blueberries. Bonus: black rice has more fiber and more vitamin E than most antioxidant-rich berries.
