These incredibly soft rodents are nocturnal and have a lot of energy, so a large multitiered habitat (placed out of direct sunlight) is ideal. Chinchillas should not be exposed to temperatures over 80°F. They rarely need baths, yet have little to no odor. You can train them to do simple tricks, like giving you a quick kiss in exchange for a treat.

Check out surprising statistics that could improve your own bedroom behaviorBy Marlisse Cepeda

You know sex feels good and is good for you. But researchers recently tackled some of the things you may not know-like how money affects intimacy-and may think you know-like how many calories doing the deed actually burns. Click through for the sexy scoop on the nine most interesting studies-and their shocking results. After all, the more you know about sex, the more you might get it! Photo by Getty Images

      1. The higher a woman's desire for sex, the higher her standards for potential partners.
You'd think the more someone craves sex, the more willing that single would be to settle. Not so with women. According to the June 2013 issue of the Journal of Research in Personality, as a lady's longing for a one-night stand heightens, she becomes more discerning, seeking out only the most physically attractive men. Guys, on the other hand, consider all women as potential partners, regardless of beauty. That's because men just want sex, so they take whatever they can get.

Avoid resentment in your marriage with these expert pointersBy Kerry Miller

Despite the picture-perfect impressions we get from upbeat Facebook posts or boastful holiday letters, even the healthiest marriages aren't 100% free of conflict. At some point, virtually everyone feels wronged by a romantic partner. Bob Navarra, PsyD, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), says that those feelings aren't what throw a marriage off course-it's how couples handle them. "While it may be frustrating that the toothpaste cap was left off, happy couples talk about these small things," he says. But when those emotions are swept under the rug, a more toxic variety of negativity begins to fester: resentment. Here, marriage experts share some of the most common reasons husbands resent their wives and how to protect your relationship. Photo by Getty Images.

      1. Not fighting fair.

Happy couples don't necessarily fight less, Dr. Navarra says; they just fight better, by "describing their own feelings and needs rather than labeling their

Get inspired by Amy Pankratz, who makes personalized capes to help seriously ill childrenBy Nina Malkin

In 2009, Amy Pankratz spent a few nights in the hospital with her daughter, Isabella, then 4 (now 8, with twins Sterne (left) and Lincoln, 6), who was dehydrated from a bad flu. Because the facility was full, Amy recalls, the only available room was in the pediatric oncology unit. "Lying in bed beside Isabella, I could hear the cries of children in pain," says the mom of three from Sioux Falls, SD. "It completely broke my heart."

When Isabella was no longer contagious and could leave her room, she donned her prized possession-a "superhero princess cape" Amy had sewn for her-and flitted into the hallway. The sparkly pink garment was an instant hit with the other young patients who were walking around the nurses' station for exercise. "Before I knew it, the IV poles were going faster and faster, and all the kids were taking turns wearing the cape, giggling and zooming around," Amy says. "It occurred to me that these were some of the same children I had heard crying

      Digital Cameras

The Problem: "My camera won't turn on."
      The Fix:
This common camera conundrum is easily fixable, says Chris MacAskill, co-founder and president of SmugMug, an online photo sharing and storage site. "It's likely a battery issue. Make sure it's charged and properly inserted and the battery door is closed. Many cameras design the battery and compartment to allow the battery to be inserted only in the correct way, but check the alignment anyway."

      Thinning Hair
It's normal to shed up to 150 strands of hair a day. But over time you produce less hair and the diameter of the shaft thins as growth slows, explains Dr. Jeni Thomas, principal scientist for P&G Beauty. Instead of thickening products that just bind fibers together, look for something that contains caffeine or panthenol to actually increase the diameter of hair.

      Saying Goodbye to Buddy
At 6 A.M., I wake up my husband, Bill, and say, "I just can't do this to him anymore. It's time." Photo by Beth Levine

I've been up all night with our ancient beagle, Buddy, who is deaf and nearly blind. For the last 14 years Buddy has slept in our bed, but recently, to avoid his falling off, we've taken turns with him on a mattress on the floor. Last night, I watched as he restlessly circled, lost control of his back legs, fell, then tried painfully to get up to circle some more. Our Buddy used to climb all the way into the dishwasher to lick the dirty plates; now he turns up his nose at fresh grilled salmon and homemade meatballs. This morning, as I cradled him to calm him down, I looked into his face. I don't know how else to say it except that all of his wonderful "Buddy-ness" appears to have left him.

Bill and I don't know what's wrong, though the vet is guessing a brain tumor. To find out, Buddy would need to have an MRI

Between uses. To remove color (particularly important on brushes used to apply more than one shade, such as those meant for eyeshadow or lipstick), hold a damp facecloth or facial towelette in the palm of one hand and your brush in the other. Slowly swirl the bristles of the brush across the damp cloth until they are clear of makeup. Lay the brush on a clean paper towel to dry.

Twice a month. Remove bacteria, oil and excess product with a spray-on makeup brush cleaner like
