Here is a Law of Economics. Producers sell units of satisfaction for a price. Consumers are price takers. If they don't like the price, they won't buy it. Then producers are stuck with mountains of inventory until they bargain with consumers.
I am a consumer. I have very little income, so I cannot afford almost every price. So I buy very little. I don't have the ability to earn an income because I am disabled. I once worked very hard, but was cut down by a political sorcerer and blacklisted indefinitely for speaking my mind favoring total decentralization--true democracy, or one person, one vote. I lost.
But as a potential producer, I have magic to offer--incentive--for anyone who will bargain for it.

If your mind feels fine the way it is within normal ups and downs, this could be Heaven on Earth. Then, there is no reason to alter it with street drugs or heavy alcohol.
I read in this morning's paper, we have a $1.5 trillion deficit. How are we going to pay it? It's obvious the poor can't pay it. It's also obvious the rich, who have the means, refuse to pay it. So the task falls on the middle class. Some will help, some won't.
Community service can pay it. If the burden falls on government to see people are fed, why not trade food for community service? People can get fed, and the government can get it's debt paid. This is a simple Law of Economics. You can get just as much satisfaction from a cheap substitute as the rich can get from an expensive indulgence. This country is at war with its creature comforts.
It's not too late to return to the Golden Age of Reason. We can all do this together. Just use your head.
In WWI the German generals proclaimed, "We'll be in Paris by Easter!" And the war dragged on...
You know why this country is fighting a war in the Middle East? Because this country has lost the magical quality of reason.
What happens when the ability to reason fails? War. The war cannot end until both sides call a truce. There is no such thing as victory in war. Only casualties. When a truce is called, the warring parties can go back to the bargaining table and negotiate peace through reason. Isn't it about time to end the war?
I read in this morning's newspaper that the Alaska Natives are dropping like flies with the highest suicide rates in the nation. I used to be a go between, negotiating between government management and Yupik, Innupiat Eskimos, and Athapascan Indians, while fighting forest fires in Alaska's Interior. I have a pretty good idea what ails them. I could quite conceivably serve again as a mediator, but I cannot get a job in this field, which needs desperate attention. Let's help the Alaska Natives!
If ideas are exchanged freely, there is no reason to use force.
