Cat-eye glasses are back, as are many other stylized spectacles, but the truth is, none of today's frames are as cool as those from the 1950s. We've come a long way fashion wise, but the everyday glasses of the past were perfection. The best part? Nearly everyone had fun and flattering frames back then, so you didn't stand out for wearing extreme shades the way you would now. Now we understand why vintage glasses can be so expensive-they really were superior, at least when it comes to accessorizing an outfit. See for yourself in this awesome video clip.

The best thing about the changing seasons--aside from freshly sharpened pencils, the changing light, and kids holding footballs--is the whole new crop of seasonal foods to get excited about. My favorite fall food? Apples, always apples. And my favorite way to use them? Tarte tatin.

I have kind of a soft spot for rustic French cooking. It's not fussy, but it still feels special, and trying the recipes means I can pretend I'm in a farmhouse surrounded by lavender, instead of, you know, in my apartment surrounded by dirty, noisy city streets. (What is cooking if not a chance to imagine our ideal selves, am I right?)

Tarte tatin, if you've never made it, is just upside-down apple pie. But it's also so much more than that. Caramelized sugar, apples, and rich pastry result in something buttery and gorgeous that doesn't feel too heavy. It's my favorite fall baking treat. Sound intimidating (even though I swear it's not)? When Evan Doherty, an 8-year old from Missouri nailed a very-tough 720 trick, it wasn't just his parents who were beaming. Professional skaters tweeted about the half-pint whose rotations on the vert ramp are a rarity.

Although he clearly has some crazy skills, it's nice to see his politeness shine, too. When asked about the $35,000 ramp his parents built behind their family home just for him, he responds, "I have very cool parents. I am a very lucky kid."

With that attitude, all the practice time he's putting in, and some cheers from the bigger guys on boards, it seems like this amazing kid has far to skate.
