    • Our most awful prom memories: What are yours?

Oh, prom. It's one of the very first times our big, girly dreams -- all wrapped in a floaty dress, perfectly curled hair, giant corsage and dreamy date -- are stomped into a million pieces of bad buffet food, being cheated on, torn taffeta and missed curfews.

We want to be hopeful (why else would we go back for more at senior prom after junior-year horror, sophomore Sadie Hawkins dances and frosh hops?) and we're sure there are happy, sweet stories out there (no, really, young ones, we're quite sure your CeeLo-themed night-fantastic will be everything you've ever imagined). But somehow, long after the champagne glasses etched in lyrics from "My Heart Will Go On" have broken, the bad memories remain.

Here, the Shine editors share our worst prom memories and portraits. Actually, it's all pretty funny to recollect. And relieving -- at least we'll never have to crimp our hair or pose with balloons at prom ever again.

Take a peek and then tell us: What's your worst prom story?

We asked: Are lap dances cheating?
      You said:

Umm yes! I definitely don't want another chick's ass touchin my man! (- Lindsey)

I wouldn't say it's "cheating" but I think it's disrespectful to the girlfriend or wife! I agree with Lindsey, I don't want any other girls ANYTHING all over my man! (- Christina)

If the guy gets an erection yes! (- Lee)

Only if he hides it...Doesn't matter where he gets his appetite as long as he eats at home!! ( - Joy Ann)

    • The cutest rain gear for your kids

Do you and your kids do a happy dance once the down coats and furry hats have finally been stashed away in storage? If you're already making room in the closet for short-sleeved tees and maybe even shorts, don't forget to be sure that the rain gear is ready to go, too.

Of course, first you'll check to see if last year's boots and rain coats still fit or can be passed down to a sibling. If your next step is investing in a new slicker or hat, why not choose one your kid will love putting on? Here's some adorable rain gear we found this season that's sure to make puddle-splashing, muddy soccer playing, and even car-to-front door dashing more fun for everyone.

Share your child's school year photos and any other fun, embarrassing or incredible moments that you have captured on the Moments of Motherhood Flickr Group. While you are here take part in discussions with other moms.

    • Why STD medications should not be too easy to buy

If you have an STD outbreak or suspect you may be infected, an over-the-counter treatment might just seem like the ideal combination of discretion, relief, and budget consciousness. But the FDA warns that STD products sold over the counter or online are not only a waste of time and money, they could be dangerous.

According to the FDA, there are at least 15 such products on the market, some of which are marketed as dietary supplements, that make unproven claims to prevent, treat, or even cure sexual transmitted diseases, including chlamydia, herpes, HIV, AIDS, and genital herpes.

Debbie Birnkrant, MD, a FDA medical expert says the products could lead to a public health threat.

"If you aren't treating your STD with an FDA-approved medication, you're not just putting your own health at risk-you could be endangering your partner," Birnkrant noted.

The FDA and FTC are threatening legal action to manufacturers if the products are not removed from the market, and are focusing on the brands

    • A cami + a bra = one very happy lady

Once upon a time, I may have wished for a week-long vacation in blistering hot sun, with smoking hot waiters delivering potent, cool drinks. I may have drooled over a horrendously expensive handbag or longed for a big house with a backyard. These days? There are big ticket items I want, but a perfect little bra will keep me happy for longer than I ever dreamed.

OK, so a bra for me will never be little. That's why I am so amped up about this one that cleverly combines a camisole with a bra. Better yet, it doesn't look horrendous. Even more fabulous, it's less than $60.

I like to show cleav as much as the next lady (especially on that vacation with the beefy waiters carrying my Rum Runner). However, there are days (work, church, meeting my mother for lunch at the deli) and even some nights (first date, school fundraiser) when it's just not OK to put it all out there. Since I am forever layering fancy tanks under my favorite wrap dresses (which isn't always wonderful for the

    • The most popular baby names: Welcome back, Jacob. So long, Elvis.

What are the chances your baby will have several friends with the same name once they go to school? It's very likely, particularly if your child is named Isabella, Jacob, or even Maci. But if your little one is named after Elvis, for the first time in more than a half-century, he probably won't encounter another similarly named friend.

With its release of the most popular baby names of 2010, the Social Security Administration reveals that names that have topped the list consistently for several years are joined by some new and surprisingly trendy choices, such as reality TV star names. The administration also notes that some names we've been used to finding at the top dropped a few spots last year.

"The chances of meeting a baby named Sophia this year versus last year -- you'll see them everywhere," saysLaura Wattenberg, author of "The Baby Name Wizard: A Magical Method for Finding the Perfect Name for Your Baby".

Sophia jumped from number four to the second-place girls' spot.

    • Cheerleader refuses to cheer on the boy she says raped her: Supreme Court rules against her

For those of us who were not cheerleaders, the athleticism, acceptance, and popularity of that high school existence may have seemed to be the ultimate way to get through what can be the worst four years of our life. But this isn't the way it was for a student cheerleader from Texas known only by the press and the courts as H.S.

In October 2008, H.S. was a 16-year-old high school student in her hometown in southeast Texas. Then, as she says, she was raped at a party by another student -- a star football player and member of the school's basketball team. Four months later, at a basketball game in another town, H.S. chose to stay silent while the rest of her squad chanted his name.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that, although she cheered for the team as a whole, when the assailant went to the foul line, she opted out. Three school officials, including the principal and district superintendent, intervened, insisting that she cheer for the athlete or leave the game. She didn't

    • Study: Lipo means fat comes back in funky places

Although we're warned by celebrity trainers, nutritionists, books, studies, and anecdotes that there absolutely, positively is no miracle cure for being overweight, doesn't liposuction still hold that promise for us? Even just a little bit?

Of course, we tout the surgery in a diplomatic manner, saying that it is the "when all else fails" option after babies stretch out our abdomens or our saddlebags won't budge no matter how much time we spend in the gym. But really, it has to be the allure of drifting off into an anesthesia-induced slumber with big thighs we hate and waking up with much smaller, bruised thighs we will certainly love that leads to 450,000 lipo surgeries a year.

As with every bit of magic, there's a hitch. Scientists say, despite testimonials and the many before and after photos lining coffee tables in cosmetic surgeons' offices, this includes liposuction.

A new study published in the journal Obesity finds that the fat that is suctioned out does come back. And to

Osama bin Laden. Photo via Yahoo! NewsOsama bin Laden. Photo via Yahoo! NewsAs the United States nears the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that killed more than 3,000 people, President Obama announced Sunday night that the al Qaeda leader and mastermind of that horrific day, Osama bin Laden, has been killed.

CNN reports that a senior government official confirmed that bin Laden was shot by a small team of U.S. soldiers while in a mansion with family members outside of Islamabad. His body is now in American custody and is being handled according to Islamic customs. Three other adult men were killed in the firefight, including a son of bin Laden's, who was a senior member of the terrorist organization.

"Justice has been done," the president announced, saying that the operation he ordered after receiving intelligence information is "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al-Qaeda."

The immediate reactions ranged from cautious to ecstatic. While crowds cheered outside of the White House, U.S. diplomats were placed on
