    • Katharine McPhee: A Red Carpet 'Smash'

Katharine McPhee is living the modern American Dream, is she not? I mean, it's not the way our grandparents (if they were by some chance famous) did it, but she's made quite a name for herself. From her humble yet memorable start on "American Idol," to a small part in "The House Bunny," to the lead in the new television series "Smash," Katharine has truly climbed the ranks. I had the pleasure of meeting her a couple years ago when The Thread traveled to Los Angeles to film a week's worth of content, and I can assure you she was sweet as can be - - and gorgeous! But her style has not always been so on point. Take a look at her style evolution and let me know what you think.

    • Dakota Fanning's Perfect $30 H&M Summer Dress!

Ian Gavan/WireImageIan Gavan/WireImage You know what's fun to do at the ultra-chic London-based
tennis tournament, Wimbledon? Mix high and low fashion! I'm
just kidding; I've never been to Wimbledon (though I did visit
London with Team Thread this winter, and it was such a blast).
      Anyway.

Dakota Fanning DID go to Wimbledon this week, and she
looked adorable, as always, in this pale pink ruffled H&M dress with lace detail, an Elizabeth and James distressed blazer, and Opening Ceremony cut out sandals. The best part? The frock set her back just $29.95!

This dress is SO pretty in person, and this photo is proof of just one way to wear it. Just think of the options -- over a swimsuit, belted with wedges, the possibilities are endless. Actually, I'm off to buy one for myself! It's normal to be twenty-seven years old and copying Dakota Fanning's style, right? Who cares! Get one before they're gone!

    • New "Venus Goddess" Jennifer Lopez shows off her glam gams

This week, in a total no-brainer, Jennifer Lopez was named the first ever global ambassador for Venus Razors. We started following her legwork almost ten years ago when she strutted her stuff all over her music video, "I'm Gonna be Alright," in a pair of Daisy Dukes. Whether scantily-clad in a sequined mini, showing off her tan in a white romper, or topping a short dress with a fur coat, her toned stems are always front-and-center. Take a look at J-Lo's best leg-baring looks over the years.

    • Harvest These Fall Pieces Right Now

It happens every August. The temperature rises to such a brain-melting level that the only bearable items in my closet become the light and loose, airy and gauze-y, short and skimpy ones. Yet, the September issues of all my favorite fashion magazines get delivered and all of a sudden I've developed an actual, palpable hunger for fall fashion. Luckily, there is a way to combine the two elements. Invest in my top 5 picks of fall's fashion crop now, and transition them later.

      Skinny Cargo Pants

Celebrities like Rihanna, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson and Kourtney Kardashian have been seen all over town in this adorable take on Fall's military trend. Most of them were spotted wearing J Brand's $230 version, but save some cash for the next trend and snag one of these inexpensive options instead. Wear them now with a soft silk tank and platform wedges, and wear them later with a cozy knit sweater and some lace-up high heel boots.

Mike Marsland/WireImageMike Marsland/WireImageAt the 2010 National Movie Awards held in London, Gwyneth was
grown-up girlie in head-to-toe fuchsia, save for a strand of chunky emerald
beads and a gold signet ring on her right hand. Her gorgeous Prada sheath
had such an interesting shape and sheen to it, and her bubblegum
pink Christian Louboutin peep-toes were so very Barbie in a good way.

    • Secret Soirée

Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending a Secret-sponsored Fashion Week cocktail party thrown by BeyondBeautyBasics and TheMakeupGirl. The forward-thinking minds behind the sites threw the party in recognition that bloggers and online media have become big players in the world of Fashion Week coverage. The theme was "Fresh and Fearless" and a lottery drawing placed a fresh $1000 in the pockets of a lucky guest to help her in conquering her "secret" fear. Beauty industry heavy hitters like Ted Gibson -- host of TLC's "What Not to Wear" and hairstylist to celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway -- mingled, danced, and sipped champagne alongside us editors, bloggers and stylists. Stila make-up artists applied touch-ups, and great music filled the chic SoHo space. The energy was amazing and it was refreshing to be surrounded by so many intelligent bloggers -- all of whom share a love of Secret, and, of course, fashion.
