    • Nicki Minaj Steps Out in a $28 Dress

Fresh from a terrifying performance at the GRAMMYs, Nicki Minaj made an appearance on "Good Morning America" in an incredibly cute $28 Mondrian-inspired bandage dress from discount retailer Forever 21. Her hair was formed into soft and bouncy synthetic waves in the shape and texture true Barbie dreams are made of. A stack of candy-colored gem-encrusted bangles, camel-colored peep-toe ankle boots, and a cobalt leather tote bag with gold chain straps rounded out her ensemble.

It's nice to be reminded from time to time that a woman who swathes herself in yards of blood-red fabric (albeit custom-made by Versace) made to look like a nun's habit can show off her spectacular curves in a bright and fun dress that costs around the same price as an oil change.

Want to tear a page from Nicki's book? Get your hands on one of these eye-popping minis from Forever 21 and style as desired.

And head over this way for more news on Nicki.

      Forever 21, $27.80.

    • Makeup hits and misses from the GRAMMYs

With the music community mourning the passing of the legendary Whitney Houston, tonight’s 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards took on an understated vibe, at least on the red carpet. There was some fun to be had with fashion, as always, with stars like Nicki Minaj arriving wearing a Red Riding Hood get-up with a pope on her arm, Fergie in an electric orange, see-through lace Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown, and sexy Rihanna in a custom backless Armani gown inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in “Scarface” – a personal favorite style memory of mine as well. Mostly it was pretty, softened and muted in the make-up department. The best make-up only plays up a woman’s best natural beauty; and the worst, well, takes it to another level by either concealing it (in some cases), or altering it, in the case of a very famous Victoria’s Secret model. Let's take a look at the best contenders and worst offenders.

    • Flashback: Top Ten Looks From GRAMMYs Past

Just as I rapidly glaze over when something old-timey comes on my TV, I am sort of bored with Best Of round-ups that remind us, for the fiftieth time, how amazing female recording artists once looked on the GRAMMYs red carpet thirty years ago. Let's celebrate the young women who are making music today!  So in honor of the 54th Annual GRAMMYs airing this Sunday, February 12, I've highlighted the top ten fiercest, most glamorously chic red carpet ensembles beginning in the year 2000.

Do you agree with my choices? Who do you hope will win a GRAMMY? Will Nicki Minaj wear a crazy head-to-toe printed look again? Let's talk about it.

    • Katharine McPhee: A Red Carpet 'Smash'

Katharine McPhee is living the modern American Dream, is she not? I mean, it's not the way our grandparents (if they were by some chance famous) did it, but she's made quite a name for herself. From her humble yet memorable start on "American Idol," to a small part in "The House Bunny," to the lead in the new television series "Smash," Katharine has truly climbed the ranks. I had the pleasure of meeting her a couple years ago when The Thread traveled to Los Angeles to film a week's worth of content, and I can assure you she was sweet as can be - - and gorgeous! But her style has not always been so on point. Take a look at her style evolution and let me know what you think.

    • Dakota Fanning's Perfect $30 H&M Summer Dress!

Ian Gavan/WireImageIan Gavan/WireImage You know what's fun to do at the ultra-chic London-based
tennis tournament, Wimbledon? Mix high and low fashion! I'm
just kidding; I've never been to Wimbledon (though I did visit
London with Team Thread this winter, and it was such a blast).
      Anyway.

Dakota Fanning DID go to Wimbledon this week, and she
looked adorable, as always, in this pale pink ruffled H&M dress with lace detail, an Elizabeth and James distressed blazer, and Opening Ceremony cut out sandals. The best part? The frock set her back just $29.95!

This dress is SO pretty in person, and this photo is proof of just one way to wear it. Just think of the options -- over a swimsuit, belted with wedges, the possibilities are endless. Actually, I'm off to buy one for myself! It's normal to be twenty-seven years old and copying Dakota Fanning's style, right? Who cares! Get one before they're gone!

    • New "Venus Goddess" Jennifer Lopez shows off her glam gams

This week, in a total no-brainer, Jennifer Lopez was named the first ever global ambassador for Venus Razors. We started following her legwork almost ten years ago when she strutted her stuff all over her music video, "I'm Gonna be Alright," in a pair of Daisy Dukes. Whether scantily-clad in a sequined mini, showing off her tan in a white romper, or topping a short dress with a fur coat, her toned stems are always front-and-center. Take a look at J-Lo's best leg-baring looks over the years.

    • Harvest These Fall Pieces Right Now

It happens every August. The temperature rises to such a brain-melting level that the only bearable items in my closet become the light and loose, airy and gauze-y, short and skimpy ones. Yet, the September issues of all my favorite fashion magazines get delivered and all of a sudden I've developed an actual, palpable hunger for fall fashion. Luckily, there is a way to combine the two elements. Invest in my top 5 picks of fall's fashion crop now, and transition them later.

      Skinny Cargo Pants

Celebrities like Rihanna, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson and Kourtney Kardashian have been seen all over town in this adorable take on Fall's military trend. Most of them were spotted wearing J Brand's $230 version, but save some cash for the next trend and snag one of these inexpensive options instead. Wear them now with a soft silk tank and platform wedges, and wear them later with a cozy knit sweater and some lace-up high heel boots.
