Ever hear this old saying when you were a kid? If you believe it's true, than think again. Our words hold tremendous power to hurt or to heal. Here's a good example of the power of words in action.

Out for a walk, I passed a mom trying desperately to teach her young daughter to ride a two wheeler bike. They had obviously been at it for some time and she was clearly frustrated. She began to yell, chastising her little girl, calling her a coward and a chicken. Standing nearby and apparently feeling powerless, the father watched his terrified little girl scream and cry uncontrollably.

At one time or another we all hold a secret. Some of mine have been personal but I have also held others that were shared in confidence by a trusting friend. A few secrets from my past were buried long after they needed to be. When I finally had the courage to share them, my heart was finally free and I wondered why I had carried the weight of that burden for so long.

There is a saying, "we are as sick as our secrets." But secrets take time to process, there is a time for holding on and a time when only the heart knows it is ready to move toward acceptance and letting go. One thing I know for sure is that sooner or later our feelings catch up with us.

If you have a secret that you are not ready to share, you might find it helpful to write about it.

Believe in yourself. Great things are going to happen.

A close friend sent this guardian angel for success to me in the mail. I immediately placed it in my car as a daily reminder. First that it is essential for me to have supportive, loving friends who believe in me, and second that no matter what, I must always continue to believe in myself.

I used to view success as accomplishment of goals and even more as financial rewards for my services. Today I know that success is more about striving for balance in many areas of my life, not just about the balance in my bank account.

My life is successful because I determine my success one moment and one day at a time. It's about doing my best to live with purpose, passion and finding

In a clothing store, a young woman struck up a conversation with me. She was clearly very over weight. Not the usual five to ten pounds that a lot of us complain about, more like one hundred pounds in excess. Smiling and relaxed she explained that she hadn't always been a plus size. Although she hoped to lose weight, she had learned an important lesson, to be happy today at whatever size she was.

Her change of heart occurred after looking at an old photograph of herself when she was slimmer, younger and perhaps more beautiful. The sad part she told me was that at the time, she had never really appreciated herself. Now she promised herself she would never again wait for some time in the future to feel good or to be happy.

Kalypso CAR 6.16.10

The Kalypso

I saw this amazing car today in a neighborhood parking lot. Someone had spent their time and talent to transform an ordinary Volvo station wagon into an extraordinarily whimsical vehicle, named The Kalypso!

Viewing this spectacular car parked next to regular cars seemed so out of context, like something out of a Dr. Seuss story book. The hood was adorned with rainbow colored glittering stones and waves were painted as a decorative border all around. Inside and out, tremendous attention was paid to every detail.

It was parked in front of a shoe shop so I walked inside and inquired "who owns that awesome car?" They said they didn't know but thought the owner was having coffee nearby. I headed for the closest Starbucks to see if there might be someone who looked like they matched this car. I thought whoever utilized

I believe that every outcome begins with my attitude toward it. While I might approach someone or a situation with the best of intentions, it doesn't necessarily mean I have a pure and open heart.

There are many sides to everything and it's important that I be willing to understand the different perspectives from both sides. Hearing the truth can be challenging, my speaking the truth as I see it, is essential. Somewhere in between there is common ground.

When consistent efforts are not what you hope for, it might be a good time to step back, and ask yourself, who do I serve by knocking and how will it benefit others should this gate open to me? The key is to always come from a genuine and loving place.
