Does the dandelion have its own sense of timing or does it take a stiff breeze to spread its seeds? Whether we let go voluntarily or wait until we are forced, the lesson remains the same; hold on to everything with a lighter touch. It's less painful to let go when we choose to, than have it forced upon us.
I have held on to people and situations long after they served their purpose. I've stoked the fire of disappointment and anger when it was necessary to forgive. I've stayed at jobs out of a sense of loyalty to others, because I had not yet learned that my first loyalty was to my own happiness. I have grasped and clung because I was afraid to face my fears and terrified to feel the void that sometimes comes with letting go. Through it
