To kick off their journey on 30 DAYS OF INTENT, Natalie and Iman visit celebrity trainer Holly Perkins for a lesson on fitness. They're joined by YouTube star ExoticJess, and the whole gang goes for a hike in the Topanga Canyon. We interviewed Holly on her favorite fitness techniques and ways of maintaining an exercise routine.

The Chopra Well: It looks like you, Natalie, Iman, and Jess had a lot of fun hiking! What do you think usually gets in the way for people regarding exercise?

Holly Perkins: I find the number one reason why people don't exercise is lack of time. In truth, no one has the time to exercise; you have to make the time. Interestingly, I believe that a person's motivation goes even deeper than scheduling. I believe that many people perceive a workout as something that will be tiring and therefore, don't feel they have the energy for it. In some ways, that person doesn't really want to workout.

      Therefore, a tight schedule

Yoga changes lives. We see it again and again.
People suffering from illness, struggling with self-esteem or weight or imbalance, looking for purpose and avenues to change the world… Every story in its distinct way reflects the transformative power of yoga. And, of course, human beings' own capacity to change and thrive.

It is this very power we aim to capture on our new show, URBAN YOGIS, launching October 8 on The Chopra Well. Beautifully shot, inspiring, and heartfelt - the series delves into the lives of cancer survivors,Eddie Stern and Moby practicing their Eddie Stern and Moby practicing their inner-city youth dealing with violence in their communities, recovering addicts, artists, youth in detention facilities, and more. Fat, Sick & Nearly DeadFat, Sick & Nearly Dead

As someone who believes in the connection between food and disease, I am so excited that a film like Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead attempts to show the masses how a healthy diet can cure an illness. It's a must see movie!!!

Suffering from a rare autoimmune disease disorder, Joe Cross, was tired of taking prescription pills and feeling miserable. Looking at himself in the mirror, his 300+ pound image looked back at him and he longed to be healthy again. Knowing if he kept eating junk food and taking these pills, he was on his way to an early death. Armed with a generator, a juicer, his car, and a desire for a better life, Joe takes an oath to only juice fruits and vegetables for the next 60 days. Unsure if this experiment will work or not, Joe is desperate to feel better.

Traveling cross-country from New York to California, Joe set off on a journey to juice, talk to people about juicing and the negative effects of junk and fast foods on the body. Out of

      By Mallika Chopra

Today, on 9/11, I will remember to honor my role as a mom to nurture my children, the global citizens of tomorrow.

What will you do on 9/11?

      gettygetty
      I was 5 months pregnant on 9/11.

When the first plane crashed, my mother, my father and my brother were on all different airplanes. I was awoken by a phone call that morning from my father, who was crying, panicked that my brother could be on one of the planes that crashed. As we watched the 2nd plane crash, we still did not know where he was. It was with immense relief that I wept after he called to say his plane had made an emergency landing in Detroit.

And then I was overwhelmed with grief and sadness as I realized that so many in our global family - our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, friends, neighbors, teachers, nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, children - had died in this terrible attack on humanity. A day later, while going for a walk, I fainted and ended up in the hospital. The stress from all the

Next up for Intent Blog's YOU interview series, meet Melanie Klein!

Thanks for taking the time to speak with me about your yoga journey, Melanie. I wanted to start by learning a bit more about how you came to it to begin with? What was your first yoga experience like?

I took my first class in 1996, back when yoga had not become the cultural phenomenon it is now. Studios were very few and far between and you didn't see copies of Yoga Journal or the equivalent in your local stores. My younger sister, Natascha, asked me if I wanted to sign up for a yoga class with her through the local community college's extension program.

As it turned out, our weekly yoga class was a Kundalini class and we did a lot of, what seemed to me, odd physical movements accompanied by chants. I was intrigued. My sister and I giggled through much of the class and surely exacerbated our teacher, but we didn't stop and we signed up time and time again.

      But Kundalini

Have to admit - the happiest person in my house right now may just be me. Just the thought of school starting next week brings a smile to my face - oh, how wonderful it will be!

Yes, it has been a great summer for my kids. A variety of camps and life experiences - from theater to lego robotics to writing camp, a wonderful trip to Italy and a lot of play dates, swimming and relaxation. I have to admit that we had a very special summer. And, I had a great summer hanging out with my girls, watching them grow, making some wonderful memories that will last our life time.

But… It has also been a summer of driving 2 kids to different activities at different times on different sides of town, trying to work in between pick ups and drop offs, and realizing that the idea of those wonderful lazy days at home are actually full of questions like "Can we do something?", "I'm bored," "Can someone come over?" My attempt at getting my girls to regularly do some math homework or

    • Break-up Depression: A Spiritual Solution

Creative CommonsCreative CommonsBy The Chopra Well

Have you ever experienced a bad break-up?
We've all been there. The tears, arguments, silence, and regret. Even if the break-up isn't particularly "bad," it can still feel awful to part ways with someone who has been close to your heart.

And how many of us have watched friends endure painful break-ups? For them it might feel like the world is falling apart. You just want to grab them, open their eyes, and say, "Look! The sun is still shining! Life goes on!" But only the passing of time brings this truth to light.

Justin poses this predicament to Deepak Chopra in this week's episode of Spiritual Solutions (a series on The Chopra Well YouTube channel). Compounding his post-break-up depression is the fact that Justin also just graduated from school. He is navigating new territory and feels alone in his struggle. Justin asks, how do you find happiness in a negative situation when it feels like there is no one at your side? Deepak responds with compassion and a

Perez Hilton. Celebrity gossip guru turned spokesman for holistic wellbeing? There is a lot more to this internet sensation than meets the eye.

In the recent episodes of The Chopra Well show, WHO ARE YOU, Deepak interviews Perez Hilton on consciousness, life purpose, and personal transformation. First on the agenda, though, is Perez's dramatic weight loss. Many of Perez's followers undoubtedly noticed his incredible body transformation in the past few years. With exercise and portion control, he lost between 70 and 80 pounds, surgery free!

"Was your motivation spiritual?" Deepak asks. Well, to be honest, it wasn't. Perez wanted to "get laid." This isn't the first time someone hit the gym to look hot on date night, and it probably won't be the last. But the process soon assumed spiritual dimensions, as well. More than a weight-loss, before-and-after story, Perez relates how the journey expanded his mind and made him aware of a universal source of energy.

    • A Five Point Plan for Maximum Impact

      Lili RahmatiLili RahmatiBy Lili Rahmati

Thanks to the brilliant campaign sponsored by the generous folks at Gold Peak Tea, one lucky individual stands to win $100,000 so that they can take a year off to do whatever they wish - pretty amazing stuff and definitely the opportunity of a lifetime! As a response to Mallika Chopra's recent call to fellow Intent-ers to share their ideas assuming someone from the community might be lucky enough to win, I've been fantasizing about what this scenario would look, taste and feel like for me. At first, so many things rushed through my mind that the exercise became quite overwhelming. But after allowing the thoughts to simmer down a bit, I've identified five distinct opportunities for allocating the winnings (both time and money) in a way which would create huge impact and fulfillment.

I have to admit that I found this exercise to be a little bit alarming, but also very enlightening. Instinctively, most of my initial thoughts about how to use the prize
