    • Do sitcoms hold the key to a happy marriage ! @ # $ %?

What can we learn from marriages on situation comedies? For starters bowling teams and in-laws mean trouble. And if your spouse wants to talk to you in the kitchen, you're screwed. But the real secret, according to a new study, has to do with an epic sitcom formula: chubby husband, skinny wife.

A new study published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, suggests that marriages are more satisfying for both husband and wife when the woman is skinnier than the guy. After four years, surveying 169 newlyweds, researchers claimed that a woman with a lower BMI pleased both parties ultimately.

"One idea is that attractiveness and weight are more important to men," Andrea Meltzer, one of the study's researchers, told ABC News.

Another theory: blame sitcoms. A few years ago, when The King of Queens ruled the airwaves,

Facebook saves lives. Or more to the point, good Facebook friends save lives.

Slate writer and novelist Deborah Copaken Kogan credits her community on the social networking site for helping diagnose her son's mystery illness in time. Kogan woke up on Mother's Day to find her 4-year-old son Leo with a rash and a fever.

As his symptoms worsened'"high fever, swollen face'"she continued sharing photos and concerns to a growing community of friends and 'friends'.

"Baby getting sicker. Eyes swollen shut. Fever rising. Penicillin not working. Might be scarlet fever. Or roseola. Or...???? Sigh," she wrote. After sharing news of his worsening symptoms, she got a call from a friend who saw the update and offered some sage advice: get to the hospital. Kogan's friend had seen

    • Test Title 1 - How Can I Flush My Kid's Potty Humor?

      By Rebekah Hunter Scott, GalTime.com

Now that my son is four, he has developed a penchant for potty humor. Words I'd been using for months in my valiant (and extremely drawn-out) attempt to potty-train him I'm now hearing him use in everyday conversations. Loud ones. Sometimes with complete strangers.

I understand this is something all kids go through'"one day it dawns on them that the phrase "poopy bottom" is actually quite hilarious when taken out of context. And I suppose such humor has made for some successful low-brow comedies at the box office, but if he keeps using phrases like "Big Pee-Pee Butthead," the only movie my son will star in is Seven Years In Time-Out.

So how do I stifle this less-than-desirable stand-up routine? I feel like I've tried several different methods, none of which is working very well. I've found myself telling him, "We don't say butt in this house, we say bottom," over and over like some

    • A User Asks: Where's the Love???

I work in the public sector as a professional. This puts people in front of me in large numbers on a daily basis, and I get the chance to know a LOT of people. Additionally, I read a lot, and get quite a bit of info. from articles and blogs.
In the last couple of years, I've noticed a disturbing trend, in that I never see, read, or hear about any articles or blogs that are all about women that want their man just because they love them. I've been with my wife now for 20 years, and just thinking about how much I love her and how much we share makes me want her sooooo bad. Yet I don't think I get that same thing in return for reasons I don't wish to get into. But, this leads me to a chain of questions I would like to get some feedback on. Here they are:
      1. Is it possible for a woman to be "sexed out" like most men are taught by other men?
      2. Why is giving a man oral sex such a big deal if your in love with him?
      3. Lingerae....shouldn't it make you happy to see your

At the ripe age of 30, I came to the harsh realization that I wasn't getting any younger and neither was my skin. Things only got worse from there; I didn't have an unlimited budget for facials, threading, microdermabrasion or chemical peels --and Botox was out of the question. When I looked at the extreme prices of anti-aging kits, serums and solutions, I just about had a 30-year-old stroke... The cost was outrageous; and me over here with the turned out pockets simply couldn't justify the expense.

      To the Internet!

Without Google, I would have the skin of a 50-year-old Floridian Gardner. Thankfully, I don't live in that parallel universe. I found that many of the ingredients in all of these high priced anti-aging solutions were identical to the solutions and benefits received by improving my nutrition and using vitamin supplements.

When I looked at a $6 bottle of vitamin B6, compared to a $60 jar of six ounce eye cream....I had a clear winner. I employ a regimen of a

This is it, you guys. Summer is pretty much here. Technically, my favorite season begins on June 21 but let's be honest -- the few precious months between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day are what constitute it in our minds. Assuming you've already bitten the bullet and purchased a swimsuit, the below fashion items will help you put together a great Memorial Day Weekend wardrobe. The best part is, everything is under $50!

Striped bags for everyone! Whether you're a hippie chick, a preppy lady, or a glam girl, there's something for everyone. These are all big enough to store all your weekend needs, and you can unpack them once you reach your destination and use them to transport your necessities on the go.

One of the best things about summer is -- and I think we can all agree -- that more is more when it comes to accessories. In general, you're wearing less clothing, so let's balance it out with some chunky jewelry, shall we? As Jennifer Lopez once said, "Let's get loud."

    • How to Tell If Your Child is Over-scheduled This Summer

Popular culture tells us that summer is all about freedom: No schedules, lazy days and endless sun. It's a lovely dream! Reality tells us that life goes on in the summer. There are still schedules to keep and jobs to do -- even if the kids' school is out of session. As such, some families, whether by necessity or choice, have just as tight a schedule in the summer as they do in fall, winter and spring. That can be a fine thing or a not-so-fine thing. Everyone needs some down time from busyness, and over-scheduling is a risk any time of the year.

If your family schedule is just as insane in July as it is in January, you may run the risk of over-scheduling your child's summer. Your child may have chosen to do swim team and baseball and summer school and volunteer -- but where's the downtime? Where's the recharge time? Kids need it too!

      Look for Signs of stress

Barring your child just plain telling you, "I'm stressed out and feel overwhelmed," you may wonder how you can

    • Trying to Find Happiness in Your Job Isn't Always the Best Idea but Finding in Life is the Best Idea

Are you searching for happiness in your career? Is your primary goal to find bliss in your occupation, while all other factors fall secondary? But what if you can't find happiness in your work life? Well, maybe it's time to stop trying.

June Gruber, author of the recently released study, "A Dark Side of Happiness? How, When, and Why Happiness Is Not Always Good" says, "People who are striving to pursue happiness have a need to maximize their happiness, and those people are the ones who actually feel less happy and more disappointed." Which makes sense. If you're constantly trying to fit happiness into the equation, you're liable to miss the bits of happiness along the way. Sometimes asking for an overall big picture of complete happiness is really asking for too much.

Even if your job is dissatisfying, trying to search for the happiness in it, may end up fruitless and lead to more dissatisfaction. It's like love: they say it comes to you when you stop looking for it.
