It seemed like every party we went to during bridal market featured adorable, delectable bites perfectly proportioned for a dollhouse kitchen. The editors at Bridal Guide munched their way from Joan Rivers' party for Preston Bailey to Colin Cowie's wedding-website launch, from the Upper East Side to West Chelsea and beyond…finally hitting the mini-motherlode at a book launch celebrating the creative force behind this genius cuisine, Peter Callahan. His new cookbook, Bite by Bite: 100 Stylish Little Plates You Can Make for Any Party, is a gorgeous and easy-to-follow guide to Callahan's inventive food, as whimsical as it is delicious.

So why do we love mini food? Because how else could you eat spaghetti and meatballs at a standing-room-only cocktail party? It's the perfect solution! These bite-size goodies won't make a mess, don't require utensils, and encourage sampling.

We've all seen it. That guy in the movie theater tweeting about how Paranormal 3 is the #bestmovieEVER and an #instantclassic. That girl in class writing a text roughly the length of War and Peace to her bestie sitting next to her. That bride, standing at the alter, texting like there's no tomorrow. Oh wait…

Videographer James Costa captured this little gem in 2008 at the Mission Beach Women's Club in San Diego, Calif. "It was otherwise perfectly normal except for this one funny clip of the bride TEXTING just after her dad walked her down the aisle!" Costa wrote on his YouTube page.

They are the iconic memories from weddings: The garter toss, the cake cutting. These are traditions. Like them or not, you're likely to see many at any wedding you attend. But times have changed and some more modern, possible future traditions are becoming more and more popular. So when should you go the traditional route and when is an update A-okay?

1. Cake Cutting

In my opinion, the formal cake cutting is key-minus the face-smashing, that is. One way to update this tradition that dates back decades is to have a private cake cutting with just you and the groom. Keeping it between the two of you is not the norm, but pretty much the entire day is shared with family and friends and it could be a sweet way to get some one-on-one time.

This bride did! For Aspen and Brad's rustic Halloween-themed wedding, the bride wore fairy wings that perfectly complemented her bridal look.

From the outdoor ceremony space to the luxuriously-decorated reception locale, their wedding was stunning from start to finish. The adorable flower girls also donned costumes, and they carried pumpkins down the aisle. Their laid-back vibe included games (tic-tac-toe with pumpkins, pumpkin bowling, and more) and a Halloween scavenger hunt for the kids.
