"We decided to keep the colors very soft and subtle with notes of cooler tones."
INSIDER TRICK: Colbeck kept to the following neutral palette of products: Lancome tinted moisturizer, Chanel bronzing powder, golden sand Dior eyeshadow and icy beige M.A.C lipstick. He finished the look "with a light dusting of pearly white shimmer powder on the cheeks, eyelids, shoulders and legs to complement the cooler tones of the look."

If you're going to buy one item for the fall, celebrity stylist Freddie Leiba's pick is "this year's tweed coat -- it's very tailored, a bit '70s looking and slightly masculine. Wear it with great boots or jeans. You'll look like an English dandy -- a very chic one." Check out this one from Stella McCartney to get an idea of the trend, which Blake Lively rocked in this style from Burberry.

      Stay Warm Stylishly
As the temperature drops, the age-old conundrum of staying warm while looking good for a soiree re-emerges. Instead of a bulky parka, opt for something more streamlined like Gwyneth Paltrow's topper. "Buy a chic tuxedo jacket to throw over all your party dresses so you don't have to freeze," says Suzanne Karotkin, senior design editor at In Style. Try an ivory or white style for a major statement.

Lauren ConradLauren Conrad. Photo by Matt Baron/BEImagesGET THE LOOK: "We wanted to keep Lauren's hair young and playful for the Teen Choice Awardsso we opted for a beachy bohemian look to complement her long flowy dress, says Christine Symonds, celebrity stylist at Warren-Tricomi in L.A., who created this fresh look. By keeping the hair simple, it played up her dress instead of overdoing it.
INSIDER TRICK: Keep the waves loose and natural, says Symonds, who used a one-inch curling iron and wrapped large sections around it to get the subtle curl. Then she created two loose braids on either side of the center part and finished with Redken Hairspray #18 and some Redken Vinyl Glam Spray.

    • Layered Lip Color

Penelope CruzPenelope Cruz. Photo by Andrew H. Walker/Getty ImagesGET THE LOOK: Penelope Cruz is very into black eyeliner right now, reveals makeup artist Genevieve Herr, who created this subtly smoldering look. To counterbalance her heavily-rimmed eyes, Herr layered two lip colors (a dusty pink and anude) from Edward Bess to get a perfectly complementary shade of pink.
INSIDER TRICK: When layering lip products, start with the darker shade, then layer with the lighter or clear hue. Layering with a nude or beige shade is a good way to tone down a too-heavy lip color.

    • Natural Highlights

Cameron DiazCameron Diaz. Photo by Jun Sato/WireImageGET THE LOOK: Hair color this natural comes with some planning. It's important to tell your colorist that you want to see contrast, says Amanda George, co-owner of L.A.'s Neil George salon, where Cameron Diaz has her hair done. You should see definition between the highlight color and your own color so you don't have one solid shade.
INSIDER TRICK: George says, It's best to have foiled highlights with a little painting on the ends to achieve the look. And get touch-ups every five to six weeks to keep it fresh.

    • Easy Ethereal Eyes and Hair

Scarlett JohanssonScarlett Johansson. Photo by Jeffrey Mayer/WireImageGET THE LOOK: It takes seasoned pros to create Scarlett Johansson's gorgeous look and have them call it easy. Makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuwen wanted to make the eyes jump out and keep the rest of the face fresh, soft and glowing, while hairstylist David Babaii created what he calls lazy hair that was very simple.
INSIDER TRICK: Vanleeuwen used icy pink shadow (L'Oreal Glam Shine in Seductress), Kevyn Aucoin Basic Plum eyeliner and lots of mascara to create this ethereal look. Babaii spritzed beach spray in the hair to give it texture, then used a large-barrel curling iron all over the head. He pulled the hair back into a bun and secured it with bobby pins.
