We need a new clock in our apartment-not the cable light-up screen, not the bedside alarm, not the stovetop range. I want a real clock that I can hang on the wall, serves as a design element, and reminds me how to read analog time. The problem is, I don't really know what I want. The last wall clock I bought was in a 99 Cents store in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, in the summer of 1994, so I'm a little out of touch. Is it horrible to think about a cuckoo clock? How about one that's sleek and silver? Maybe this retro-barbershop look? And though I'm trying to get us away from all midcentury modern all the time, this classic George Nelson style is really well-priced.

With all due respect to Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, the true Blue Lagoon is a decidedly un-tropical place. Though a paradise, in its own way.

I visited Iceland last weekend, literally, returning with the expected jet lag but weirdly, no dry skin, which I usually get after a single airplane flight-and this weekend included two.

Are researchers trying to find ways to test males for carrying HPV? Or is there no money for it because of some subconscious sexism (the way erectile dysfunction always seems to trump female sexual dysfunction) -- guys don't show symptoms or suffer from HPV, so it's not a priority?...
