    • Spring 2010 style report: The wackiest moments of New York Fashion Week

The Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week is shaping up to be one of the most safe, wearable, and pretty in recent memory. There were, however, a few designers who wowed in perhaps not the best way, presenting clothes that were everything from desperately impractical to truly bizarre. Check out our slideshow for the weirdest looks so far.

    • Kate Gosselin's new hair!

Ooh. It looks like one Ms. Kate Gosselin has decided to branch out with a new coif and the results are, to our minds, an enormous improvement over her widely-panned, two-toned, reverse mullet. Gosselin debuted the new 'do this morning on 'The View' (check that out--amateur poetry about a reality star's hair!). "Isn't it cute?" she reportedly said of the wavy look, which was created by ABC stylists. We have to wonder: What happens now to all those great Halloween wigs? Outdated!

    • Style at the VMAs: The best, worst, and just really confusing

Oh, what a strange, noisy night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna gave an odd, over-long, self-involved "tribute" to Michael Jackson where she essentially blamed the audience for his untimely demise. Kanye West drank booze on the red carpet and then jumped on stage to diss Taylor Swift (a terrible, jerky moment that was said to be spontaneous, but seemed deeply choreographed). British host Russell Brand wore dumb purple vests and made dumb jokes about his penis and wanting to sleep with American celebs (yawn). And then there were the clothes! Oh, the clothes! Was almost everyone wearing the same outfit, or was it just me? When will the ugly shoes trend die? Also: Two celebs wore the SAME dress! Scandal! Check out our roundup above, weigh in on the comments below.

    • Fashion winners and losers from Fashion's Night Out

So it happened last night. The event we were all waiting for, Fashion's Night Out. For a few evening hours, New York City was taken over by hundreds of editors, celebrities, designers, and retailers all out to spur the economy and get us regular folks to SHOP! We're not sure if its aim was successful (full details to come, once we know), but the outfits sure were fun to look at...

    • Janet speaks out: About her last day with Michael, his eccentric style, and how she hopes he's remembered

Janet Jackson's interview in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar is almost entirely devoted to her brother Michael and, while you won't find answers to the more mysterious questions surrounding the King of Pop's life and death, the resulting article is still a sweet, and at times, fascinating read.

Speaking out for the time since her brother's passing, the 43-year-old singer says the last time she saw Michael was May 14, just a few days before her birthday: "We had so much fun that day. We kept calling each other after and saying how great it was." Janet also reveals some intimate details about the days following his death, including the decision to allow (Michael's daughter) Paris to speak at the memorial service."I was really proud," she says. "People said to me that Michael's daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She's a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They're with all their

    • 20 trends to get you excited for fall

Sure, there's some bad stuff out there (we're downright frightened by the sight of mega-oversized '80s shoulders and see-through jeans). But fall 2009 is not a total letdown. We're loving the fact that we can once again purchase jeans without the uttering the words "skinny" or "high-waisted." We're crazy about black leather and red and almost any combination of the two. And really, don't we all feel just a smidge more feminine when adorned with a ruffle or two? Take a look at our fall fashion picks above, let us know what you think below.

    • Cindy Crawford discusses her cellulite, we call B.S.

Have you ever noticed how super-beautiful, perfect-bodied, posthuman celebs will often make a point to talk about how very normal they are, how they never get hit on/ how a boy broke up with them in 7th grade/how they were always nerdy and felt ugly/how they sit home and watch bad TV while devouring Cheetos, just like us!

Well...the latest famous person to try this "I'm relatable" line of interview answering is Cindy Crawford, who explained to this month's Redbook magazine: "I have cellulite. I admit it." Still, Crawford says, "Screw it. I am wearing this bikini, and I am not putting on a cover-up."

Excuse us while we barf a little bit.

We get it, most women feel self-conscious about their bodies, and Crawford, being a former supermodel, probably has more pressure to look good than most. But, really? There has to be some serious body dysmorphia going on if this woman is sincere, if she genuinely considers it an act of courage and defiance to wear a bikini. I mean, look at her. These

    • Look like Kate Gosselin for just 13 bucks

We're a little late to the party on this one, but it's still too good not to share. If you want a kind of bad, nonsensical, reverse-mullet hairstyle to don this Halloween, (or anytime at all?) look no further than this handy wig, which replicates famous mom of eight Kate Gosselin's wacky 'do. Douchey, Ed Hardy-wearing husband not included.

    • Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise oversee design of Scientology clothes

Getty ImagesGetty ImagesIn perhaps the oddest fashion news of the day, bloggers are all abuzz about a Saturday Daily Mail story announcing the creative partnership of Mr. and Mrs. Cruise. It seems the couple, both serious Scientologists, were tapped to oversee production for a line of new uniforms for the Church, and are offering their input and giving style insight to designer Richard Tyler.

This information made us wonder: Do scientologists really wear uniforms? Why? Is it like a nun's habit? A man of the cloth's robe? Do they wear them only in church? Or do they wear them out and about, Hare Krishna-style? Does a whole family wear the uniforms or just the adults? Are they for special occasions? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.

Our confusion was only made foggier by the Mail's descriptions of the uniforms: "The scarlet-lined black capes with skirt and trouser suits are almost identical to the sort of clothes favored by Tom and Katie, if a little more vampire-themed. [The couple] gave the new designs the thumbs-up,

    • Michelle Obama's summer of great style (and maybe a misstep or two)

Michelle Obama's wardrobe is in the news once again. This time, people can't stop talking about how our first lady wore both short (ish) shorts (the nerve!) and also a surprisingly elegant dress by Target. All in one week! We're using this new style buzz as an excuse to look back at Mrs. Obama's busy (and we think quite chic) summer of fashion. Check out our slideshow above.
