    • A “Cool” Solution For Fat Removal

      I recently read an article on fat freezing. Yep, that's right. There's a method for getting rid of those impossible bulges (think muffin top, love handles, belly and back fat) by putting your fat on ice (sort of). After getting past my initial shock of ice no longer being purely for my favorite cocktails, I decided to learn more! Zeltiq (aka CoolSculpting) is for those who are fairly fit but can't get rid of those pesky pudgy areas no matter how much they diet and exercise. In essence, think of it as "spot reducing" your problem areas.

      What The #*%@ Is CoolSculpting?

      Here's the skinny…CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that uses a cooling method called Cryolipolysis to target and eliminate the fat cells. Cryo…what?!? I know, I know. Although it sounds intense, no tissue or skin is damaged in the process and the pain factor is pretty mild (here's a visual: it's a machine with an extended handle that has two metal paddles that "tug" at the targeted areas for

    • Skin Toners…Worthy or Waste?

      So, we gals are all slaves to a skin care regimen of some sort and 99% of us aren't looking to add more steps to it. Recently, I decided to reevaluate my skin routine and had a friend recommend a skin toner. Hmmm. At this point, I'm vaguely familiar with toner and have never used it religiously. I had heard it "evens out" skin tone and can even help "tighten pores." My first thoughts: Argh…should I be using toner in conjunction with my other skin care products? Great, one more step to add to my list (insert eye roll here). So, I decided to set out on a mission to determine if toner is a worthy skin product…or a waste of time…

      What Is Toner…Toning, Exactly?

      There must be hundreds of toners on the market. In fact, just about every major skin care brand sells one. But…what is toner, exactly? Think of it as a skin rebalancer…resetting your skin's pH levels. Since I failed science, I decided to go to a knowledgeable source (my Dermatologist) and get the scoop. In short, she

    • Can Booze Wreck A Gal’s Complexion?

      {by Sasha}

      For some reason, when Friday rolls around I switch to "cocktail" mode (I tend to drink wine during the week). There's something so Sex In The City about a cocktail (my personal fav: a Cosmo made with Greygoose L'Orange. I heart you, L'Orange Cosmo). But by the end of the weekend, my skin often looks like I have a mild case of Chickenpox. So, do I have to become a teetotaler or can I be a part-time lush and still have a clear, blemish-free complexion come Monday? The answer is yes…and no. Per my research, I found that it entirely depends on the person. Alcohol can cause some to break out like it's your first year of high school (due to things like hormones, dehydration, and sugar levels) while others are totally unaffected. I, unfortunately, fall into the first group (insert sobbing here). So what's a girl to do? Well, for starters, a good wash is a must (while you might be tempted, DON'T go to bed without washing that gorgeous face of yours, ladies). A tried-and-true

    • Let’s Get Cheeky. How To Get A Smooth Derrière!

      {by Sasha}

      Ok, ladies…I'm about to change your world. We all want nothing less than a smooth, dimple-free backside and would give our eye teeth for it! Dimples on the face are cute…but on our other cheeks…mmm, not so much. It's hard to believe that cellulite plagues 90% of women (and 10% of men…go figure). But not to worry. If you've got five minutes, $5 bucks, and a firm grip, your bum is on the road to smooth city. Run, don't walk, and get yourself a body brush.

      A Brush For My Backside?!?

      Yep, that's right. By vigorously "brushing" the areas you want to be smoother (tush, thighs) you're essentially "waking up" or stimulating and speeding up the lymph system…pummeling those fat pockets! The key is to do it "dry"…so, before you jump in the shower, take your body brush and vigorously brush your problem areas in a circular motion! You can find a body brush just about anywhere…Target, Wal-mart, Ulta, Amazon - for somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 to $10 bucks. (I

    • Does Your Complexion Have You Seeing Red?

      {by} Sasha

      Lately, my complexion has me seeing red…literally. For the past few months, I've noticed redness around my nose and cheeks (this might work for St. Nick, but not a good look for the rest of us). So, I shamelessly asked a Dermatologist friend of mine about this and she says it can be caused by a few things include Rosacea (which, I didn't know, is considered a form of adult acne), heredity, and/or sensitivity to certain facial products. She referred to it as a "ruddy" or "reddish" color that appears on certain areas of the face and can occur in mild to extreme form.

      So, How Can I Get Rid Of The Redness?

      If you fall into the extreme category, I would definitely recommend that you go see a Dermatologist. For mild cases, my friend suggested trying an over-the-counter redness prevention lotion. In my search and testing of various products, I was surprised to learn just about every major skin care line offers a redness reducer…from Clinique to Philosophy to Neutrogena.
