One of my research participants described in detail all the physical pain, suffering and loss of sleep that he experienced when he failed to express gratitude. Once he was able to forgive himself, his health returned completely.

I recently worked with a client who suffered from severe fibromyalgia and spoke about himself in negative terms almost constantly. I suggested that for one week, instead of allowing the negative thoughts to run wild, he should start expressing gratitude as much as possible. At subsequent sessions, the client reported that his heath was improving and the intensity of his daily pain had lessened.

Closely linked with gratitude is attitude. Your attitude affects your life far more significantly than almost any other choice that you can make. Choosing an

Tarts and vicars, anyone?Attention, Bridget Jones fans: We are v. excited that a new installment of our favorite awkward heroine is in the works! Helen Fielding has written another chapter in the life of the quirky Brit, and the book is scheduled for an autumn 2013 release.

More from YourTango: 'Bridget Jones 3' Is Officially In The Works

For the uninitiated, Bridget Jones Diary - the tale of a desperate yet endearing everywoman and her clumsy and often hilarious pursuit of true love (or at least a good date) - debuted in 1996 and quickly became and international bestseller and cultural phenom. Two movies followed, with Renee Zellweger as our quirky protagonist, and single 30-something women everywhere found a fumbling heroine they could finally relate too. It was in Bridget's constantly adorable flaws - namely her fixation on her body image, awkward approach to dating and penchant for wallowing in her misery (who can forget her onscreen rendition of 'All By Myself'?) that we wach saw a bit of ourselves. We

    • Think Nagging is Hurting Your Relationship? Here's Why You're Wrong

Sixty percent of men say nagging wreaks havoc on their sex lives. A survey by YourTango.com reveals the pervasiveness of one of couples' worst habits: nagging, along with other communication challenges. More than half of respondents consider nagging a problem in their relationships. For 60% of men and 44% of women, it leads to less frequent and less satisfying sex. Moreover, a mere 15% of respondents claim to be "good" at resolving conflicts as a couple.

    • David Petraeus Cheating Scandal: Do Some Careers Make Us More Likely to Cheat?

Former CIA director David Petraeus in happier times. It was quite the week: a massive hurricane hit the East Coast, a fierce election came to an end and now this: America's sweetheart CIA director, General David Petraeus, resigns for "personal reasons," (ahem, cheating on his wife).

More from YourTango: I'm Cheating On My Husband; Am I A Bad Person? [VIDEO]

Petraeus is known in this country as a hero. As the director of the CIA, Petraeus has been our go-to guy for handling terrorism, our military and global threats. But after an F.B.I. investigation stumbled upon his extramarital affair via his computer, our nation's superman was encouraged to step down just two days after the president's reelection.

If this story sounds all too familiar, it's probably because it is. Remember when the John Edwards/Rielle Hunter story broke? We all gripped our faces like we were auditioning for Home Alone 4. What about Anthony Weiner's Twitter pic snafu? And let's not forget former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was caught patronizing prostitutes after making

    • Why Single Parents Shouldn't Sacrifice Their Love Life for Their Kids

You don't have to choose between your love life and your kids.As a single parent, the topic of single parents dating resonates with me, as I'm sure it does many of you. Single parenthood isn't easy and those who to do it should be commended. I can't say enough how much I appreciate all of the single mothers out there "making it happen" for their children.

More from YourTango: 12 Dating Rules For Single Parents

The same goes for the single dads ... we're holding it down as well. You should receive the recognition you deserve for handling the situation to the best of your ability. We should all also be well aware, single parenthood should not be anyone's first choice. I don't want to glorify single parenthood. It should be the last resort.

Dating isn't easy when you don't have children. Add some little ones to the mix and you've got a complex situation.

So what should we do? Well, one thing we shouldn't do is stop dating altogether because children benefit from a two-parent home. Without one, children don't get to see how a good relationship is

    • Why Overweight Men Struggle to Make Babies

How high is your sperm count? It's time for some tough talk about the male waistline - specifically what's right above it and what's right below.

More from YourTango: The Weight-Loss Secret That Saved My Life

The two are more closely linked than you might think. Fatty tissue contains an enzyme called aromatase which transforms your manly testosterone into a form of the not-so-manly hormone, estrogen. That doesn't just sound like bad news for male sexual health, it is bad news, and a new analysis out of France makes my point perfectly.

Researchers looked at 14 studies that compared sperm counts in normal weight, overweight and obese men and, not at all surprisingly, found that obese men were 42 percent more likely to have low sperm counts. Even worse, the obese guys were 81 percent more likely to produce no sperm at all.

You don't have to be obese to lose your man-power, either - even overweight (not obese) men were having trouble producing. They were 11 percent more likely to have low sperm
