Being the little bro or sis of a superstar must have its perks: all the privilege and wealth of the successful sibling with none of the pesky work or obligatory stints in rehab (or at least that's how we would play it). But rather than sitting back and basking in the glow of their famous siblings' stardom, these seven ambitious up-and-comers are busy carving out names for themselves as stars in their own right. Say hello to the next generation of Tinseltown royalty.

    • Your Fanny of Your Face: Which Would You Choose?

There's an old saying that's usually attributed to French actress Catherine Deneuve: "When a woman reaches a certain age, she has to choose between her fanny and her face."

What Catherine is getting at is the "Sophie's Choice" of vanity. As much as women hate extra roundness and softness in their lower bodies, faces need fat to fill out wrinkles and look young. So as a woman ages, she ends up with two choices: Diet and exercise like crazy to stay skinny, which will prematurely age her face, or accept some chub, knowing that her face looks emollient and youthful instead of sunken and stretched.

4 Makeup Mistakes That Age You

In many highly scientific online polls, women choose their faces at a rate of three to one, but if you look at many women-actresses, singers, rich urban career ladies, and rich suburban housewives-it's pretty clear that they've chosen their fannies. To them, being sixty and still able to fit into a sample size designer dress is the ultimate victory.

    • 5 Surprising Foods That Boost Immunity

You've probably heard that orange juice and chicken soup can help kick a cold or combat the flu, but there are less obvious (and more appetizing) mealtime choices that help an ailing immune system. Below are five surprising foods that you might want to toss in your shopping cart the next time you feel a tickle in your throat.

      Kefir/Yogurt
Many yogurts and almost all kefir, a fermented milk product, contain probiotics, the so-called "good" bacteria. These bacteria alter how the immune system in the digestive tract reacts to microorganisms. Studies have found that probiotics can help with diarrhea and other intestinal disorders. Although more research is needed, probiotics may also help reduce the severity of colds and the flu, according to the Mayo Clinic. Opt for the yogurt and kefir that contain live and active probiotics to make sure you're reaping the benefits of these miracle-workers.

    • Kanye West's Runway Flop

Kanye West debuted his highly anticipated womenswear collection over the weekend at Paris Fashion Week. While critics were unanimously impressed by the amount of famous faces and industry heavyweights that showed up to cheer the "college dropout" on, they were less impressed with West's fugtastic designs. Things might have gone better for Mr. West had he not included so many furry backpacks and this jazzy number. Better luck next time, Yeezy.

What do you think of Kanye's collection?

    • An Open Letter to My Niece

For my niece ... Because the internet will be around forever and I will not.

I worry and wonder if you'll discover the flavors of the world given you are such a picky eater now. Because your parents are not world travelers, I wonder if it'll take you as long as it took me to discover that fruit can be delicious year round and that the heirloom tomato is far superior to Jersey tomatoes. I wonder if you will continue to despise everything green as you get older and worry you'll miss out on green delicacies like California avocados and Japanese edamame.

When I was your age, I did not spend a lot of time in the kitchen. As I got older and started living on my own, I wished I had paid more attention to how my mother made her meatballs or how my grandmother made apple pie and a crust from scratch. I do still have both of their recipe boxes filled with recipes where some are handwritten, some typed, and somewhere it's just the ingredients and I'm left blindly to figure it out

    • 3 Steps to Looking Flawless

Let's be honest-most of us aren't putting on a full face of makeup for every day at the office or trip to the pet store. Most days, it's all about looking good without too much fuss. At the Barbara Bui runway presentation at Paris Fashion Week, Rachel Zoe exemplified this idea with a pared-down makeup palette. Here's how to get Rachel's fresh-faced look:

      New Uses for Common Toiletries

      1. Go for light coverage.
Fake great skin without a ton of product by using a tinted moisturizer or a blemish balm like Boscia B.B. Cream ($38, Sephora). It lets natural beauty shine through without a ton of cakey coverage. It evens out skin tone, camouflages fine lines, and it's all you need for everyday.

      2. Skip the eye shadow without sacrificing definition.
Use a powder eyeliner like Smashbox Soft Effects Powder Eye Liner in Soft Black ($22, Smashbox.com) to tightly line upper and lower lashes for a more diffused, blended look. Then pump up your lashes (uppers and lowers) using a

    • The Evolution of Thursday's "Must-See TV"

For almost 25 years NBC ruled the TV airwaves, coining the term "must-see TV" to refer to the 8-10 p.m. comedy block. Each season, the network had some of the most-watched shows, and transformed Thursday night into the most profitable and coveted time on TV. From the family-oriented The Cosby Show to the self-conscious workplace comedies today, here's a look at the sitcoms that made up 25 years of "must see TV." Not only is each show a reflection of culture over the last two decades, but the evolution might even indicate what's next for the network as it attempts to restore itself to its former glory.

    • Zooey Deschanel: Adorkable or Alienating?

Zooeymania has officially swept the nation. Zooey Deschanel, the quirky, doe-eyed actress who stole Joseph Gordon-Levitt's heart in 2009's sleeper hit 500 Days of Summer, and in the process became the preeminent object of hipster desire, has hit the big-time with a shiny new sitcom on Fox. New Girl is positioned in Fox's most coveted spot, Tuesday nights after Glee, which means if the network sticks with it, Zooey's will be a household name. But lately her name has been on people's lips for another, less fluffy reason: Ms. Deschanel has become a lightning rod for a heated debate about what it means to be a
      feminist.

4 Fall TV Shows You Should Be Watching

The main criticism levied against her is that she plays the cutesy infantile card a little too much. In case you're unversed in the magical, butterfly-laden landscape of Zooeyland, she has a website called Hello Giggles (with a subcategory called Cuteness) and according to her band's Myspace page, She and Him occupies "an alternate

    • 17 Facts You Didn’t Know About Hit Songs

Popular music has provided us with many of our most cherished and apocryphal stories, from juicy true tidbits to outright urban legends. You probably already know that "Candle In the Wind" was written about Marilyn Monroe and Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" is about his newborn daughter, but did you know these other fascinating facts about hit songs?

      1. In 1980, the apartheid government of South Africa banned the song "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd. Black students, protesting inferior educational opportunities, had made the song their unofficial anthem, and the government banned it to prevent them from organizing.

      • The original name of Van Morrison's hit "Brown-Eyed Girl" was "Brown-Skinned Girl."

      • The Beatles' hit "A Day in the Life" was banned by the BBC because of the lyric, "had a smoke, somebody spoke and I went into a dream," which was interpreted to be a reference to marijuana, although the band denied it. Ironically, the song also contains the lyric, "I'd
