      Molly Creeden, Vogue

Does anyone remember a time before green juice? The fresh fruit-and-vegetable blends-squeezed on hydraulic presses, packed with nutrients, and designed to balance PH and alkalize acidity in the body-now seem as ubiquitous as the iPhone or Lena Dunham. As the New York fashion collections draw near (on the heels of a rampant strain of the flu-thanks, winter), showgoers will be doing their best to fortify themselves against long days, late nights, and crowded venues. It seems that everyone has a favorite blend of choice: Vogue's market and accessories departments almost single-handedly keep the midtown juice bars at Free Foods and Green Symphony-located a stone's throw from the office-in business. Model-turned-street-style-photographer Hanneli Mustaparta credits her favorite at-home blend of veggies and fruits as her Fashion Week survival secret: "It helps me get enough nutrients and feel good about taking care of myself, not to mention piecing me back together

    • What Your Favorite Print Says About You

      Esther Adams, Vogue

Reread any of the illustrated storybooks of our youth, from Rudyard Kipling's How The Camel Got His Hump ("But uglier yet is the hump we get from having too little to do") to Aesop's fables like The Frog and the Ox (the amphibian bursts in an effort to inflate himself beyond his means) or almost any of Shakespeare's plays, and it's clear that authors have drawn parallels between human temperament and beastly behavior as a colorful literary device for centuries. With that in mind, peering at the exotic prints that stalked the spring runways-from 3.1 Phillip Lim's leopard-print blazer to Alexander Wang's shimmering alligator-like argent dress-the predatory pattern we're most attracted to this season might reveal a little more than anticipated about who we are.

    • Why You Should Wear Sunscreen Even when It's Freezing

Courtesy of Kiehl'sCourtesy of Kiehl'sAlly Betker, Vogue

With temperatures hitting record lows across the country this week, a brightly colored tube of sunscreen may be the last thing on your mind-but according to New York City dermatologists Lisa Airan and Adam Geyer, there are still plenty of good reasons to reach for a daily dose of SPF when it's freezing outside.

"In the winter, we get more UV exposure than we expect," explains Geyer. "Sunlight penetrates even through gray clouds; it comes in through windows." Translation: Just because it's cold enough to see your breath doesn't mean you're protected from the effects of sun-induced photo-aging-or the long-term damage that may contribute to skin cancer.

If that's not enough to persuade you, this might do the trick: A rich, creamy sunscreen can double as a powerful moisturizer in the winter months, when skin tends to be drier and flakier. The latest wave of next-generation-formulas-like Ocean Potion Broad Spectrum Anti-Aging

    • The Best Cold-Weather Workouts

Molly Creeden and Emily Rudisill, Vogue

When we read the news that a combination of sun exposure and endorphins from an outdoor winter workout could boost our moods and trick our bodies into believing it is spring, we couldn't get outside quickly enough. Here, Vogue's guide to the best winter workouts to keep your blood pumping and your energy high this season.

Cross-Country Skiing: Mont-Sainte-Anne Mountain Resort, Quebec
Technically, you don't need much more than the right skis and a glistening, snowy path for a cross-country workout-a true calorie burner that hits the whole body, from the arms to the core to the calves. For the red carpet of trails, head to Mont-Sainte-Anne where 125 miles of winding woods, meadows, and hills make for one of the sport's premier destinations. mont-sainte-anne.com

It's completely understandable: When winter comes and the thermometer bottoms out, you run for the gym and lock yourself to the treadmill, a slave to the circling band of rubber till spring. Because who wants to face frigid conditions?

Well, maybe you'd brave the sleet and snow if you found out that running in the cold was actually good for you, for both body and mind. Evolutionary Biology 101 tells us that our metabolism notches down in frosty weather, and really, who doesn't sometimes have the urge to hibernate in a cave? But exercising outdoors can keep our internal fires burning at a higher level and prevent the dreaded winter fifteen.

One of the biggest benefits to cold-weather workouts, however, may be psychological. Studies have long shown that exercise is mood-boosting, but research has also found that working out outside may actually help fight seasonal affective disorder (SAD). The combination of the sun's

    • 5 Skin-Care Resolutions Worth Keeping

      Catherine Piercy, VOGUE

It's safe to say that vanity inspires its fair share of New Year's beauty resolutions-no more chipped pedicures! No more split ends! No more falling asleep with your mascara on!-but here's the problem with daunting promises and mile-long lists: They're no fun. This year, we have a suggestion. Why not streamline your efforts in the service of one simple goal instead? Supernaturally fresh skin-the kind spotted on runways from Balmain to Balenciaga-looks as smart with spring's cool suits and graphic shifts as it does with a stroke of colorful eyeliner, a Prada red lip, or a choppy, jaw-grazing bob. And if you stick to a few gloriously simple missives, it can be yours in 2013.
