    • User post of the day: Finding great fabrics

i am a big fan of unique fabrics. i love using them as wall art and have been collecting scraps since i was a child.

a friend recently told me that she was interested in buying a new ottoman and
i suggested making it herself, or finding an old one and re-upholstering it. . her big question was "where could i find cool fabirc?", well look no further than the etsy shop of fabric supplies.

i found some great fabric on the site. here are some of my faves and they are around $7.50 a yard.

from the bright pops of colors to more muted tones there is a great mixture for sale.

another great place for cheap fabrics is ikea. here are some of their much publicized fabrics. this fabric is $7.99 a yard. you can buy them here.

    • the illusionist window

this has to be one of the best ideas i have ever seen. found at the modern museum of art store (momastore.org) this is a light that projects the image of a window onto a wall.

for anyone that lives in a big city where trees are limited this could be a life saver!

the light is called the "reveal light" and it was designed in 2007 by adam frank. the light even has a fan inside that gives the illusion of the trees swaying.

you can buy it for $450 on the moma website. it is pricey but for those new yorkers and other city dwellers it could be a saving grace.
