i was so lucky to spend the weekend (memorial day weekend) in my home state of north carolina and as always as soon as I walk into the airport i was excited just to be there . this time as i waited for my luggage to arrive i experienced a moment of spark . arriving at the charlotte douglas airport was a solider just returning home from war . he was greeted by his wife and two small children and i was lucky enough to watch .
each kid carried a "welcome home daddy" sign and had their faces painted in red, white and blue . i couldn't help but get choked up watching this reunion . i smiled a few times at the soldier and had the greatest urge to say "welcome home soldier" as he turned to leave .
i didn't say it then but will say it now… "welcome home soldier, welcome home".
