It's been a long summer of cold cereal but now that it is fall and we are waking up to some chilly mornings I am thrilled to welcome oatmeal back into my breakfast rotation. I came across a beefed-up 5-Grain version and I really like the added bonuses!

You have heard every dietitian, including me, tell you to try some of the other whole grains outside of whole wheat. You know that list of unfamiliar names: triticale, amaranth, rye, quinoa, barley, bulgur, millet, etc. I am a little ashamed to say it but even I have not found an everyday place in my diet for all of these. I am happy eating whole wheat and oatmeal--and while I am sure I would like some of the others--I am satisfied so I don't venture much further.
