The 17th Annual CEW Awards were announced last Friday, and for those of you that don't know, the CEW's stand for the Cosmetic Executive Women's Awards - it's an awards ceremony that is comprised of a panel of women in the beauty industry who vote for what they think are the best products available right now. Beauty Banter: How Can I Fix My Flat-Iron Damaged Hair?

Dear Stefania,

For the best results in keeping your manicures and pedicures lasting longer, follow these steps:

1. Make sure before applying polish your manicurist removes all oils from your nail plates and cuticles. Using a nail polish remover with acetone is a guarentee to remove all signs of oils.

2. The application of a good base coat such as that by Dior.

3. Apply two thin layers of color.

4. Then apply a top coat such as one by Sally Hansen or Revlon.

5. Every two days apply a thin layer of clear.

Please note that after a while it will become too many layers and begin to chip, but these steps will help.

So, now they are offering a new line of crystal designs called "Pejazzle," which are stick-on crystals for men of course. Liposuction has been thought of as the miracle cure for fat for as long as I can remember (okay, for as long as it has been a popular plastic surgery method - basically always), and for many is a handy quick fix.

But, according to The New York Times, a new study led by Dr. Teri L. Hernandez and Dr. Robert H. Eckel of the University of Colorado found that this surgery may not be as reliable as was once thought. The study compared non-obese women that chose to have liposuction on their thighs and lower abdomen and a second group of women that were the "control subjects" who didn't get the procedure. The control group was also told that after the study, once they heard the results they would have the option of getting the procedure at a discounted rate.
