We rallied the advice from Mary Dando, Director of Study Abroad Programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, as well as Jerri Stephenson and Kristina Wegscheider, co-founders of the female travel blog, Do It While You're Young, and came up with these 10 essential tips for a successful and safe study abroad experience!
1. File Your Trip
File Your Trip
The Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP) allows you to register your trip online. "That way the State Department knows which Americans are located in an area if something should occur," says Dando. By providing an email, they are able to send you any alerts for the area where you are staying.
2. Get Insured
On top of your regular insurance at home, it is essential to get a policy that works overseas and includes care for any preexisting conditions. "It is important to look for insurance that covers evacuation," in the case of a political or natural disaster, says Dando.

As three bespectacled young women, we, the Seventeen web interns, could not have been more thrilled when geek -chic came into style and glasses were suddenly a necessary accessory, even for people with perfect vision. Even if the nerdy look is totally cool now, the fact remains that glasses can be a pain when it comes to doing your makeup. So, with the help of our friends at bonlook who shared some of their hottest new frames with us, we came up with three different (and easy!) looks for all you fellow four-eyes to try!
1. Bold Lips
Bold Lips with Glasses
Since eye makeup can sometimes seem redundant with glasses, the easiest way to make sure you still look put together is to put on some of your favorite bright lipstick! I actually layered two colors to get this orange-red shade: Topshop Lips in Confession and M.A.C. Lipstick in Runaway Red. I especially love the bold lips with tortoise frames, like the J'adore pair I'm wearing. To make sure my color doesn't look like it's flaking offRead More »from 3 Make-up Tips for Girls with Glasses
the final look!Ever since Lauren Conrad posted a photo of her tie-dyed hair on her blog, I've been desperate to try it out myself. However, ever since a terrible color mishap in high school (I accidentally ended up "rocking" bright orange locks for months!), I've been a little wary of coloring my hair, especially on my own at home. Then, my friend told me about an awesome way to get multi-colored tips without any commitment - hair chalking! It's super-easy, and we had a ton of fun doing it. Here's how you can get the look too!

Soft pastel chalk. We picked this giant set up from a local craft store for about $5!
A small spray bottle filled with water
A flat iron or curling iron
A old towel or t-shirt you don't mind getting color on.
step 1Step 1: Spray a 1-inch section of hair with water. You don't need to soak the entire strand, just go as high up as you want the color to be.

Breakfast: Detox with Oatmeal & Fresh Berries
Oatmeal has soluble fiber, which clears out the crud in your digestive system that's left behind by junk food-plus the meal itself is super-filling.
- ½ cup quick-cook 1-minute oatmeal (skip the instant kind - it has more salt and sugar!)
- 1 cup skim milk
- ¼ cup fresh or frozen berries
Directions: Mix milk and oatmeal in a microwavable bowl (add more or less milk depending on desired thickness) and microwave for about a minute. Stir, then add berries.

Jacey, one of the few lucky girls that gets to show off her figure on the Christmas Spectacular stage, tells Seventeen how she prepares her for high-sweat activities, and how you can incorporate her tips into your own fitness and makeup routines.
17: How do you prepare for the Rockettes during the holiday season?
Jacey: My warm up starts on my walk to the train. I opt for stairs when I'm heading to Radio City Music Hall. I often get off the subway two stops early and walk to wake up my body. After I have my hair and makeup prepped, I do about 15 minutes of warm up in my dressing room. It's important to get the hamstrings ready for all the kicking.
17: What do you do off-season to prepare for all the strenuous dancing?
Jacey: Our grueling schedule consists of up to four shows a day, so I do a lot ofRead More »from Holiday Fitness and Beauty Tips from a Rockette!

"My class was going on a school trip, and while we were on the bus, my crush sat in the same row as me. He wouldn't stop staring at me - or my chest! I thought it was probably because he liked me, so I texted him, 'So do you like what you see?' He immediately responded, 'Um, no, I'm staring at your pit stains.' I was beyond mortified!"
"I was in math class, and I really liked the boy sitting next to me. It was really embarrassing and awkward. But when he passed me a note saying he liked me, I was so happy! I wrote back, 'I like you too!' The teacher saw us writing notes; she picked
