The Hollywood Award season is starting up again, and with that we have so many new hairstyles to admire and replicate. Last night, we saw a trend of different braids that can easily be recreated by even the least talented braider. Check out our favorite, sported by The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev!

The waterfall braid has been everywhere lately. However, I have never seen one done on each side of the head and then tied together in the back to create one braid. Here's the step-by-step to get it.

How To (And Not To) Create A Heidi Braid

Step 1: It was all about creating a casual vibe at The Teen Choice Awards. Get that feel by starting with a messy center part.

Step 2: Use a 2-inch curling iron to create Dobrev's loose messy waves.

Step 3: Create a waterfall braid on one side of the head, finishing directly in the back of the head. Hold with a clip for the time being. (If you don't know how to make a waterfall braid, check out my how-to

While filming her new movie, The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby, Jessica Chastain stepped out with a dramatically shorter hairstyle.

      8 Shocking Celebrity Makeovers

The actress has never shied away from changing her hair for a role. In The Help, she sported short, bleach-blonde curls. While the crop really suits her, we still aren't sure if this is a real cut or just a convincing wig.

What do you think of the new look?

      Jessica Biel1. Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel's high-volume ponytail reminds us of Brigitte Bardot. The teased crown can be recreated at home by using a volumizing spray, like Redken Quick Tease 15 Backcombing Finishing Spray ($18, Redken.com). Once you have enough height at the top of your head, gather the rest of your hair into a high ponytail.

Large barrel curls pulled to the side just scream old Hollywood glamour, and we love that Hayden Panettiere modernized the look by transforming those curls into summer-perfect waves.

The barrel curl is coming back, and stars like Nicole Scherzinger aren't afraid to rock it. To get the look, separate a large section at the front of your head and apply a texturizing pomade, like Herbal Essences Set Me Up Texturizing Wax ($3.99, Soap.com). Next hold the hair at the ends and start rolling back until you're left with a large barrel curl. Secure the curl with bobby pins, and bring the rest

Instagram User: _summalovin_Beachy Without The (Real) Waves
Not all of us are fortunate enough to spend a summer surfing the waves. But that doesn't mean us city and country girls don't deserve to enjoy gorgeous beach waves (hair, that is) during the summer months. Join us as we get inspired with our favorite Instagram beachy hair pics.

      Celeb Icon: Ashley Benson
Pretty Little Liars' Ashley Benson could (and should!) be this generation's Farrah Fawcett for beach waves. The key to recreating that casual look is to start with a dry texture. Spray Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Dry Shampoo ($25, Ulta.com) throughout hair. Wrap different size strands around a large-barrel curling iron. By mixing different sizes of waves, you will add dimension to your hairstyle.

      Just Add A Pin
Give your waves a little structure by pinning a small piece behind the ear with a bobby pin, as user inspo_photos did (at left). Apply sea salt spray, such as Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Salt Spray

    • Get the Look: An Easy, DIY Wedding 'Do

With wedding season in full swing, brides aren't the only ones spending money beyond their means. Between bridesmaid dresses, travel costs and wedding presents, summers can get expensive. So we found a way to cut costs for a big day: do your own hair and makeup. We checked in with Nexxus Creative Director Kevin Mancuso to find out how to create an easy, wedding-friendly updo at home, so you don't have to splurge on styling too. Here's what the styling extraordinaire told us to create:

      caro_wedding_updo.jpg

Step 1: Spray Nexxus Lavish Body Spray Gel ($11, Ulta.com) on your roots. Next, apply mousse, like Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Bodifying Mousse ($12, Walgreens.com), all over your hair to get an even texture and smooth any fly aways. Our hair was dry when these products were applied, but damp, freshly washed hair would be preferable.

Step 2: Blow-dry your hair, but instead of using a brush, use your fingers for a brushless blow-dry. While drying, pull your fingers through your hair to add

    • New PSA Blames Beauty Industry for Girls Quitting Sports

With the Olympics quickly approaching, sports are on the brain. With soccer star Hope Solo and phenom swimmer Natalie Coughlin on the scene, the boys will need to fight for attention. And now there is a new initiative, "Keep Her on the Field" that aims to keep young girls involved in athletic programs throughout their high school years. I completely agree with their goal but, their new PSA that blames the beauty industry for girls calling it quits? Not so much.

As you can tell from the title of this blog, I am a beauty editor that also loves to run. So when I watched the PSA that shows young girls walking off a soccer field midway through a game and emerging with skin tight dresses and over-the-top makeup, I was pretty annoyed. Let me get this straight...girls quit sports in high school so they can go to the mall and dress themselves up like they are Pauly D and the Situation's new one-night stands?

    • MAC Collaborates with Betty & Veronica!

Somehow, MAC always knows whom to collaborate with to create the perfect girly, quirky collection. This time, they're working with Archie comics to whip up the ultimate nerdy-chic cosmetic line (insert 7-year-old squeal here!).

      Marilyn Monroe Inspired MAC Collection

      Photo: Fashionetc.com

"Archie's Girls," a limited edition collection to be released next spring, will feature everything from girl-next-door Betty products, to items the super sultry Veronica would wear. So if you haven't made up your mind about the love triangle, and which girl Archie should go steady with, now would be a good time to choose! Either way, our inner-child is bursting with excitement about this collection.

Although MAC hasn't given specifics about the collection, we hope it includes big lashes and dark lip colors (à la-Veronica), as well as soft pink glosses and pastel polish (à la-Betty).

Which iconic look would you prefer to wear: Betty's or Veronica's?

    • The Worst Retro Hairstyle We've Ever Seen

Just two weeks ago Blake Lively had one of the nicest retro hairstyles we've seen, and now Demi Lovato has gone in the opposite direction and sported the worst.

The Worst Wet Look We've Ever Seen

      demilovatoretrohair.jpg (Slideshow)

      Photo: Jason Arthurs/Getty Images

The singer wore what we are referring to as the "doughnut poof" to "The X Factor" Season 2 auditions. So not only does the poof have a strange hole in the center, but half of her hair forms into a ponytail in the back for a half-up style. Here's some advice we would have given to Demi before she ventured on the red carpet with this diaster:

      1. There is bold, and then there's too bold.
You already have dyed pink tips; there is no need to go over-the-top with the style too.

      2. Poofs can be dangerous.
If your retro poof is bigger than the late Elvis Presley, you've done something wrong.

      3. Leave nests in the trees.
Never leave a big hole on the top of your head. Birds will think it's a birds nest and create a new home.
