QuickieChick's Intention Board
Sad Fact: 84% of the people who resolve to get fit in the new year, never follow through.
There tends to be two times when we suddenly rev up our fitness lifestyles and go full force to get healthy:
*New Year's Day
*The Death of a family member or close friend
And how do we respond to such a shake-up? Immediately, we jump-start our healthy food and exercise regimens. We fill our refrigerators with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat foods. We reinstate our gym memberships and somehow find the time to hop on the treadmill or slip in a yoga class three times a week. But just weeks into our new healthy regimens and the severity of reality begins to fade as we start to slack off. Suddenly, our days are again "too full" to exercise, and we stop at the fast-food drive-through in a desperate attempt to throw some sort of nourishment down our throats. We are back to the grind and waiting for another reality-jolting reminder of just how precious and

QuickieChick baking holiday cookies
Love to Bake? Chew Gum to stop eating all the dough! It's such an easy trick that can save you from eating a day's worth of fat and calories.
Just a Bite?
If you're anything like me, you're a sucker for cookie dough. Problem is- that little hunk of raw dough, when cooked is transformed into a huge cookie! Within a few "just a little hunk" bites, you have eaten a half dozen cookies and didn't even know it! And then there is the issue of not having quite enough space on the sheet pan for all of the cookie dough... oh well, may as well just eat it, after all, you don't want it to go to waste. No! Wrong tactic. Wrap that little bit up in plastic wrap and toss it in the fridge for later. There's nothing wrong with baking just 2 cookies on a whim! The way I think of it is this: imagine taking that "just a bite" hunk of dough and affixing it to your thigh or butt. Why? Because that's where it will reside if you allow yourself to eat those unnecessary bites

Having Sex Helps Up Your Immune System
Before you feel that telltale tickle in the back of your throat or experience that first sneeze, try some of these weird ways to keep your immune system strong so you can avoid getting sick in the first place:
1. KISS (AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, HAVE SEX)!
Yes, kissing can help you fight off colds and flu. By exchanging bacteria back and forth, you are actually enhancing your body's natural defenses and boosting your immune system.
2. LISTEN TO MUSIC
Research has shown that those same sex-boosted IgA proteins also rise when listening to music like jazz, bluegrass or soft rock for 30 minutes.
MORE WEIRD WAYS- LIKE FOODS AND CROCHETING, TO NOT GET SICK
3. WALK REALLY FAST, BUT DON'T RUN!
Research has revealed that a brisk walk- 45 minute walk, four or more days a week can improve your immune system and minimize sick days.
4A. GET HOT
Studies show that, similar to drinking lots of water when you're sick, sitting in a hot sauna can detox a cold right out of Read More »from 7 Weird Ways to NOT Get Sick (like Sex and Music)

Preventative medicine can mean anything from cancer screenings to eating healthy food, drinking and smoking less to keeping cholesterol levels down. But really, what type of preventative prescription has the biggest impact? Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael's Hospital, created this short illustrated lecture spoken in total layman's terms about the type of preventative medicine that has been shown to have the most substantial impact on your health. More so than pretty much anything else. So what is it? Well, first I will tell you that this treatment has been shown to:
Knee Arthritis Pain

Quickie Workout in Bed
The moment you bound out of bed in the morning (maybe a touch of an exaggeration), you're already harried, hurrying around, trying to fulfill all of your day's demands. Believe me, we're all "too busy" to find time to work out… which is why you have to make time to work out. If that is still too much of a pie in the sky ideal, get your workout in before even getting out of bed. Before your gridlocked schedule squeezes out any spare second that you could possibly devote to your exercise, find the time in bed.
READ 10 "DIFFERENT" WAYS TO MOTIVATE TO DIET & EXERCISE
Studies show that slipping several quickies into your day can be as effective, if not more, than a straight one-hour sweat session. In the morning before you get out of bed, in the afternoon when your head goes brain dead, and at night before finally dozing off, are three perfect opportunities for 15 minute quickies. Not only will these workouts help you lose weight and burn fat, but they will

Sex and coffee are both, for many, basic pleasures. It's the first thing you want when you wake up in the morning. The last thing you want after dinner. And maybe one in the afternoon as a treat. Here's why it's a good idea:
SEX Is Good For Your HEART:
-Sex is good for your heart, cutting your risk of heart attack and stroke in half when performed three times a week.

SEX Is Good For Your BUTT:
-Sex can effectively contribute to your cardio workout, helping you maintain or even lose weight. How? When aroused, your heart rate jumps from around 70 beats per minute to 150 beats per minute, helping your body burn an average of 200 calories- which is equivalent to running for about 15 minutes.

COFFEE Is Good For Your HEART:
-Coffee drinkers are less likely to die of heart disease thanks to coffee's ability to help protect the heart against disease (but not stroke). But we're talking Read More »from Sex & Coffee... Why You Should Indulge Morning, Noon, & Night (or at Least 3 Times a Week)

More than for the purpose of filling and fattening you up, what you put in your mouth has purpose. This Bites with Benefits recipe is the ultimate pre-workout breakfast because it's a one-pot fast, easy and complete meal that is savory, warming, filling, protein & fiber-packed, fat-burning, and nutrient-rich, plus it keeps you fuller longer without the bloat. It's addictively good... it's Oatmeal & Egg w/ Sriracha (yes, the egg is cooked IN the oatmeal).
"But oatmeal is supposed to be sweet…" Really? Who says? It's a grain, just like pasta, rice and risotto. You're not putting maple syrup and brown sugar on pasta. I love savory breakfast (bacon and eggs with a side of grits), and so I'm treating my oatmeal like what it is- a grain, and making it savory.

Bye Bye Piggy...
Sometimes, regardless of the fact that you know you should workout, you just somehow can't convince yourself to. In fact, you have pretty much become a pro at convincing yourself otherwise. You are able to justify exactly why you don't have to work out and why it's ok for you to eat that entire bag of M&Ms… until the next am when you regret that decision. Next time weakness and unhealthy justification is threatening to jeopardize your diet, turn to good old piggy and drop a dollar in it's belly (to help you shrink yours).
In the end, you won't regret working out, but you will regret NOT working out. You won't regret skipping that brownie, but you may regret eating it. It's time to do away with the excuses, stop living with regrets and be proactive in your decision to live fit (even if that means bribing yourself with a $1).
