    • When Should Dogs Wear Coats?

Does your dog bark viciously every time you have company? Dig up your yard? Snap at small children? And does she need to wear a coat when it’s cold? Daily Shot puts your doggie questions to an expert.

While Ali’s dachshund, Daisy, is mostly perfect, she does have a bad habit or two. So Ali invited Justin Silver, celebrity dog trainer and the owner of the pet care company The Language of Dogs, to Daily Shot for some free advice.

Daisy behaved impeccably on air, but Ali told Justin that she barks her little face off whenever a guest comes to visit. Justin explained that this is a dog’s way of announcing to you that someone is in your territory. To get her to stop, he suggested that Ali let Daisy bark once or twice, then lead her over to a dog bed and reward her with a treat.

And as for dog coats, Justin uses what he calls ‘The 40-Degree Rule.' If you’ve got a short-haired dog, it’s under 40 degrees outside, and your dog is shivering, by all means put on a coat.

      Some

    • The 'Hot' women guys DON'T find attractive

Have you ever been watching a TV show with a guy and been shocked to hear him say, “Ugh, she’s just not attractive at all!” Sometimes men and women can have completely different opinions on who and what is ‘pretty.’

Ali spoke to Mansome’s Roger Hailes about what he thinks the main difference is. Women find “petite, small women” aspirationally beautiful, while guys like “voluptuous with just maybe a dash of slutty.”

To put that in more visual terms, Roger says January Jones is girl pretty. “She’s neat, she’s small, she’s the feminine ideal,” he explains, but guys want, “boobs and a butt.” In other words, have a burger. Guys really DO like a woman with meat on her bones.

Another surprising beauty that men just aren’t that in to? Supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Her problem, according to Roger, is that “she’s too perfect.” Basically, if a guy can’t imagine a single circumstance under which he’d have a chance with a woman, he just moves on. It’s like a self-defense mechanism. “Now I

    • “Thanks To Photoshop, My Grandmother Could Be a Model”

Earlier this year, a Victoria’s Secret model made headlines when she attributed her success to winning “a genetic lottery,” rather than hard work. “I'm not saying I'm lazy. But the most important part of my job is to show up with a 23-inch waist, looking young, feminine and white,” said Cameron Russell, who has appeared in Chanel campaigns and Vogue magazine. She added that models “are some of the most physically insecure women on the planet.”

It was an interesting revelation about a profession that seems like it would be full of confident women. So Ali invited her friend Paulina Porizkova, who rose to fame as an international supermodel in the eighties, to give an insider’s perspective on the modeling industry today.

Paulina, who is just as gorgeous as ever, told Ali that the times she felt the ugliest was when she was modeling. “You don’t hear, oh you’re so beautiful, your hair is so splendid, your eyes are so pretty,” she says. “It’s ‘oh, well your nose is a millimeter too

    • Tim Gunn’s Spring Do’s & Don’ts

Spring is finally here, so Ali invited Tim Gunn to Daily Shot to help us spring-ify our wardrobes. There are a lot of new trends for the season, and Tim Gunn knows better than anyone which looks are worth a try, and which you can ignore completely.

But before you shop for anything this weekend, Tim says to avoid the one fashion mistake most women make: picking the wrong size. “They wear things that are too big or too small,” the fashion guru says, “usually erring on the side of too big.”

As for seasonal trends, what’s the hottest item on Tim’s list? “I’m crazy about these very potently colored chinos.” He favors deeper, more saturated colors over pastels, though, because, “they tend to make women look matronly." The chinos shown in the video are from Old Navy.

Another trend Tim likes, although hesitantly, is the asymmetrical-hem skirt, aka the Mullet Skirt. The hemline, he says, “needs to be subtle and nuanced, you don’t want it thrown in your face.”

      A surprising

    • Why Do Men...?

Why do men do the things they do?  Why are they obsessed with video games and fantasy sports?  Why do they love terrible bands?  Why do they read on the toilet?  Ali gets to the bottom of some of the most mysterious male behavior with Roger Hailes of the Yahoo! Show, Mansome.

Roger was more than happy to be the unelected spokesman for men everywhere. A main motivator for men, he says, is to be able “to participate in something without actually doing it.” Roger estimates that, after a few months of playing something called ‘Assassin’s Creed,’ (which is something called a ‘video game’) he’d be a really excellent “high level assassin.”

As for why they read on the toilet, Roger says the more important question is, “Why DON’T women read on the toilet.”

Ali also wondered why men grunt at the gym.  The answer to that one is apparently simple:  because people grunt when we try.  Roger tried to convince Ali that women do it too, but his only concrete example was Wimbledon.

      After a few more

    • Is Your Chair Trying To Kill You?

It's one of the biggest health dangers since smoking…and you're probably doing it RIGHT NOW.  Are you sitting down?  Because that’s it!  (No really, that’s the health danger.  Sitting.) If you sit for more than four hours a day, your heart disease risk goes up 60 percent, according to a study from University College London.

Ali, who enjoys sitting as much as the next person, didn’t want to believe the hype.  So she asked AJ Jacobs, author of Drop Dead Healthy: One Man’s Humble Quest for Bodily Perfection, if there were any truth in the warnings.

Sadly, according to him, “If you sit all day, it’s bad for your weight, metabolism, and blood sugar level.”

But with so many other health threats out there, a person’s got to prioritize.  So Ali asked AJ to rank the hazards of smoking, motorcycles, artificial sweeteners, alcohol abuse, and sitting in order from least to most dangerous.  Watch Daily Shot to see what he said!
