Benny Horne You may remember Alice Eve (and her fantastically mismatched eyes) from Entourage, but her new role this summer, as the Enterprise's molecular biologist in Star Trek Into Darkness, will propel the Brit into the stratosphere. We asked for her get-pretty expertise.

GLAMOUR: You have heterochromia--your left eye is blue, and your right is green. Curious: Has it influenced how you do your makeup?

ALICE EVE: Usually it's not very noticeable. I did go through a period where I did blue eyeliner on top and a green underneath. I guess I was trying to accept myself.

GLAMOUR: Both of your parents act. Did your mom pass down beauty tips?

ALICE EVE: Yes! My mom taught me to spray rosewater and glycerin on my face after I've done my makeup, to set it and give a bit of moisture. My favorite is still the Whole Foods rosewater and glycerin spray, which is like $10.

Having just renewed two government-issued IDs, I have been harshly reminded of what NOT to do when being photographed: stare straight-on at the camera, do a weird half-smile. As a beauty blogger, I've mastered looking cute in selfies, but as evidenced on my license and passport, when I don't dig into my bag of photo-posing tricks, I look...intense.

The experience traumatized inspired me to investigate further why some people look so amazing in photographs. I picked three of my most photogenic Facebook friends (they always look gorgeous!) and asked them to reveal their personal photo-taking tricks. And, oh boy, did I get some good, extremely specific advice for you. Read on.

For the products I'm using that are laced with drying stuff like benzoyl peroxide and Retin-A, he has me create what he calls a "moisturizer sandwich." This means I put on a layer of moisturizer, then the product, then another layer of moisturizer. The idea is that the first layer creates a barrier to protect my skin, and the last keeps it from taking all the moisture away.

Here's how you do it: Generously slather it onto your hair, starting a few inches from your scalp (especially if your hair is fine) and work it all the way down to the ends, taking care to focus on the parts of your strands that are damaged or need a little extra TLC. Cover your hair with a plastic conditioning cap and leave it on for a half hour. (Make it even more intensive by adding little heat to the mix.) Rinse using warm water and marvel at how much softer and more manageable your strands are! At the very least, you can expect your hair to be far less frizzy and a little bit shinier.

I was pretty surprised to find out that among women in their 20s Botox use is up 10 percent, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. I may be on my own here, but getting Botox at such a young age sounds a little extreme.

For the uninitiated, Botox is injected using a needle. The toxins basically freeze your wrinkles and fine lines. It's commonly used in areas where lines begin to show up, such as around the mouth and eyebrows. The full effect of the Botox doesn't show up on your face for at least a week, so if you're looking for a quick, overnight fix, this isn't the way to go.

"Because you are injecting small amounts of liquid, you can notice some bruising or swelling, which goes away in 24 hours," Dr. Brian Bonanni told Yahoo. "The full effect of Botox takes a couple of days. They normally say three to five days,
