If I can find a way to make my life easier, I'm all about it! As moms we are juggling a lot of things to do, things to remember and things, things, things. Here are 10 tips to make mom life easier that help me every week!
1. Have a pre-packed essentials bag on the ready.
We keep a diaper bag filled with extra diapers, extra swim diapers, wipes, powder, a toy, a paci, and an outfit change. Then when we need to run out the door, we just toss in some snacks and drinks, and we're ready to go. No packing required!
2. Write it down when you think of it.
Whether you have a planner in your purse, a smart phone app, or a little piece of paper you carry around, write down the things you need to remember when you think of them. Make little lists so that those things can stop stressing you out -- and having them written down means you'll be able to find them and remember them later when you need to.

Maternity clothing is expensive, it doesn't always fit correctly, and you know you'll only be wearing it for a finite period of time, so it's not exactly investment clothing.
But most of us don't have a lot of other options - it's not like you can just choose to opt out of maternity clothing (unless you are one of those very lucky few who can make your regular clothing work the entire pregnancy with only the help of a rubber band).
Fortunately, the Internet is bursting with ideas for ways to make your own maternity clothing, whether out of pieces you already own or something in a larger size snatched up at the thrift store and altered to fit your pregnant belly.
Here are 7 fantastic pieces you can make yourself, ranging from jeans and skirts to dresses!

Traveling with a baby can be scaryA girlfriend and I were chatting a few weeks ago about the importance of travel - how it changes your perspective and challenges your comfort levels and broadens your horizons.Read More »from Why I've Been Terrified to Travel with My Baby... Until Now
(Fresh from a life-changing trip to Ethiopia, I couldn't agree more.) There's just something truly transformative about being plucked from the familiar and placed into a new setting entirely - ready to tackle adventure and exploration. But here's the thing:
I'm terrified of traveling with Bee. I know it's a bit irrational, my visions of frustrated plane passengers and screaming fits and lost baggage. And as much as I love the idea of teaching Bee to embrace travel, the concept leaves me paralyzed with fear. So until I'm ready to tackle the adventure myself, I've been slowly challenging myself with baby steps I like to call "starter vacations" - outings to summer festivals, solo trips to the park, long walks through outdoor concerts.
And you know what? It's working. Taking mini starter vacations where the

Recently my husband and I have been talking more about when we might start trying for Baby #2. And while I'm not sure I'm quite ready yet, one thing I am looking forward to is the prospect of getting to name another little one. My husband actually threw out a name suggestion the other day for if we have a little boy next time around, and it has literary roots which I really liked. I'm not telling you what the name is just in case we decide to use it one day (*note: it's not on this list!), but I did want to share some other names with literary ties that I love. Here are 7 great baby names all inspired by famous writers. See if your favorite author is on this list and if not, let me know in the comments! - By Lauren Hartmann

It was only about 8 a.m., and making an entire apple pie was not an option. I essentially decided to create a simple apple pie filling and used it to top my homemade buttermilk waffles. The following is an "un-recipe" as it's not precisely exact, but more of a general guide.
Note: 1 apple yields about 2 servings (enough topping for two).

1 green apple; peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Sprinkle to taste: cinnamon
Dash: ground nutmeg

Sometimes you can make exceptions...Before I was a mom I had a lot of ideals.Read More »from Why I Let My 19-Month-Old Watch TV
One of the things I haven't stuck with super strictly is my "no TV watching until age 2″ stance. Fern is 19 months old, and a couple of months ago I let her watch an episode of "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" when she wasn't feeling well. The girl only had four teeth for the longest time - and then in a one-and-a-half month time span, she sprouted eight more! It was a bit rough on her, and Mickey Mouse and friends were the perfect cure for her grumps. I knew if wasn't part of my "plan," but it just made her so happy!
Since then, we've let her watch TV on occasion, but the most she ever watches is one to two 20-minute episodes in a week. Many weeks, she doesn't watch any. At first I felt a little bit guilty about it, but it's actually been a positive experience for us. I'm careful not to use TV shows as a distraction and when Fern does watch something, I sit down with her and watch so we can interact together.

1 cup oats
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/3 cup local honey
1/2 cup milled flax seed
1/2 cup chocolate chips
2/3 cup coconut flakes
1 tsp vanilla
Mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl. Refrigerate mixture for an hour until cool and firm. Then, roll them into 1-inch balls! Store them in the fridge and grab a few every time you need a pick-me-up!
*Feel free to use dried berries instead of chocolate chips or coconut. You can get really creative with the ingredients!
**Do not give these to children under 1 year of age, as they contain honey.
