    • Golden Summer: Beauty Trends That Shimmer and Shine

Ah, summertime. If ever there was a time of year for all things that glitter and shimmer, this is it. You've already got a goddess glow from all that time you've (safely!) spent in the sun, so why not complement that gorgeous skin of yours with our favorite metallic--classic gold. It's an unexpected shade for nails and eye makeup, and we've got the best ways to wear it!

Rodriguez/Getty Images/Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesAll over shimmer - With "The Great Gatsby" coming out, we've all caught a touch of flapper fever. "Shameless" star Emmy Rossum is no different. Copy her '20s-esque makeup look with a wash of shimmery gold eyeshadow from lash line to brow bone. Keep a light touch when it comes to your eyeliner and mascara (or skip the liner altogether), and opt for a dainty pink pout to add a touch of color. Now you've got a look that Daisy Buchanan herself would envy.

Molten eyes - Do like Taylor Swift and add a new level of smoulder to a smoky eye with golden highlights. A swipe of gold liner along the lower lash line makes any eye color

This is the belt we're thinking of. | Photo courtesy of Material GirlThey don't call her a "Material Girl" for nothing! Since the '80s, Madonna has been known as much for her fashion sense as she has been for her music. On Thursday, April 25th, the superstar can add a new notch to her impressive belt of achievements (in our minds this belt is a literal one, and it says "BOY TOY" right in the middle) with the launch of her first ever "Fashion Evolution" pop-up showcase. Macy's has collaborated with Madge herself as well as her successful junior's clothing line, Material Girl, to bring the most iconic pieces of her wardrobe to the Century City Macy's for a one-day exhibit. Mark your calendars!

Garments on display include the infamous Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra/corset from the Blonde Ambition Tour, her “Like A Virgin” wedding dress, and other instantly-recognizable pieces from designers like Christian Lacroix. For one day, these fashion artifacts will be showcased to the public so fans to get up close and personal (well, as personal as one can get with a

Selena Vs. Katy: Who will come out on top? | Photo courtesy of Michael Buckner/Getty Images / Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty Images

While Coachella and SXSW are very different festivals in many ways, it appears that the two events had at least one thing in common this year: a floral Dolce & Gabbana bustier top. "California Gurl" Katy Perry showed up for Day 1 of this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in an outfit that recalled the playfulness of her early career while staying true to her more mature current style. The singer looked quite retro with cat's eye sunglasses, a deep side part with Veronica Lake waves, and a D&G skirt with matching bustier.

We saw a very similar look in March when Selena Gomez (and Texas native--looks like these girls are repping their home state music festivals!) walked the red carpet during the SXSW premiere of her controversial film "Spring Breakers." Gomez also brought some vintage flair to her getup with the same deep side part and chocolate brown waves and matched her lips with her coral, high-waisted pencil skirt.

In all honesty, both of these girls rocked it. Perry'sRead More »from Who Wore It Best: Katy Perry vs. Selena Gomez

Mata Hari, eat your heart out. We spotted embellished, antique-y metal belts and necklaces on some of the most stylish festival-goers of Coachella
Heavy metal. | Photo courtesy of Ariel Rivera for The Thread
A large collar necklace would look just at home on Ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti as it does on this gorgeous brunette. She smartly paired the ornate, tiered, silver necklace with a cropped white tank and ikat-print shorts, letting her accessories take center stage for an outfit with clean lines and global flair. With a necklace this big, this fly girl knows there's no need for big earrings, but instead goes crazy with a festival-staple double arm party. Classic aviators and pristine white Converse kicks finish off this look.Belt it up. | Photo courtesy of Ariel Rivera for The Thread

This chick is pulling a Jay-Z in all black everything--from her dress to her boots and hat--but this getup is anything but somber with a pop of metallic and ruby detailing at her teeny waist. This dangly, ornamental belt is absolutely to die for, with designs (and materials) usually reserved for earrings and

Coachella might be an All-American festival at heart (and in location), but the lineup this year is quite international. With the simple purchase of a festival pass, you can take a visit around the world, without even having to leave sunny Indio, California.

Expand your worldview at Coachella. Without taking drugs. | Photo courtesy of Christopher Polk/Getty ImagesLet's start with our friends from the Great White North. We have long-running indie bands like Metric (Toronto) and Tegan & Sara (Calgary) hailing from Canada as well as relative newcomers, Montreal-based Grimes and Vancouver kids Japandroids repping the land of poutine and compulsive friendliness.

It's truly shocking, how many excellent musicians England has produced over the years. Must be something in the water. This year at Coachella, England is representing with headliners and native Mancunians The Stone Roses, London alterna-rockers Blur, post-punk band New Order, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, dream pop group The xx, singer-songwriters Bat for Lashes and Jessie Ware, indie band The Wombats, synthpop groups Hot Chip and

    • Kate Middleton’s Odd New Role: Godmother to Royal Princess Cruise Ship

Unlike so many celebrities out there (Kim Kardashian, we're looking at you)

Kate Middleton is not the type of lady--well, Duchess--to endorse every product she sees. So we were a bit surprised when we heard that Princess Shinylocks herself is signed on to be the latest Godmother for Princess Cruises newest ship, Royal Princess.

But why do ships need godmothers, you might be asking. Apparently, the tradition of naming and christening ships is thousands of years old! Originally, ships were blessed by priests, while men were typically bestowed the title of godfather. The godfather would hand flowers to the godmother and the ships' godparents would say the name of the ship to bless it. Yes, really. Nowadays, the responsibility of christening ships has evolved to be predominantly female. Yay for girl power?

As the 3,600-passenger cruise ship's godmother, Kate Middleton will say a blessing for the ship and ask for the safety of its crew and passengers.  While it might seem like an odd new

Totally worth it. #NOT | Photo courtesy of Catchpole & Rye
I'm a woman of simple needs. Give me a roof over my head, cute shoes, enough money to pay off my student loans and I'm set (oh, and if we can work Ryan Gosling in to this A close up on the absurdity. | Photo courtesy of Catchpole & Ryeequation somehow that would be excellent). But, it seems there are some people in this world that are a touch harder to please. Like the kind of people who would spend almost a quarter of a million dollars on a bathtub.

From the British makers of already-insanely-priced (but gorgeous) bathtubs, sinks, and taps Catchpole & Rye, comes the Swarovski Crystal Bateau--a classically-shaped tub that boasts thousands of hand-placed crystals and an insane price tag of £150,000--that comes to about $230,000. According to Catchpole & Rye's website, "Thousands of crystals have been painstakingly applied by hand taking hundreds of hours [sic] turning the bath into a real object d’art. The Swarovski crystals are all white, of four different plates and applied in meticulous fashion to emphasise the light refracting properties of the

    • That's My Jam: The Search For Our New Favorite Songs

Spring has arrived--bringing with it warmer temperatures, shorter skirts, healthier glows, and most importantly, a fresh crop of spring tunes. These are the songs we can't stop listening to!

Local Natives: Infectious Records | Vampire Weekend: XL Recordings | TOKiMONSTA: Brainfeeder | Justin Timberlake: RCA | P!nk: RCA | Ellie Goulding: Polydor Records | Emeli Sande: Virgin Records | Bastille: Virgin Records | Rilo Kiley: Little Record Company | Icona Pop: Ten Records | The Band Perry: Republic Nashville

"Next to Me" by Emeli Sandé - Big in her native UK, star-on-the-rise Sandé's soul-tinged single is like a dancier version of some of our favorite Adele songs. We triple dog dare you to listen to "Next to Me" just once.

"Step" by Vampire Weekend - The boys from NYC have released two songs from their latest and much-anticipated album. Both "Step" and "Diane Young" have that catchy, eclectic sound we’ve come to love so much.

"Let Me Back In" by Rilo Kiley - Oh, the nostalgia. Rilo Kiley defined the high school experience of a certain blogger ("More Adventurous" anyone?), and the fact that Jenny, Blake, Pierre, and Jason are back together and making still-excellent music is the best news we've heard this year. "Let Me Back In" is a love letter to the City of Angels, but it feels more like a big hug from a
