You've got to be at least 18 to vote or join the military (without parental permission). And, if U.S. and Canadian lawmakers have their say, you'll soon need to reach the age of consent before you go tanning, too.
This month, New Jersey became the latest state to consider legislation that would ban the use of tanning beds by anyone under age 17. (This is what it sounds like when Snookis cry). California and Vermont already have bans in place for those under 18, while nearly 30 other states have various age restrictions - often requiring minors to get parental consent or a doctor's prescription to tan. And that's just a small chunk of the global backlash against the tanning industry. Germany, France and the U.K. have also banned indoor tanning for minors, while Brazil has completely outlawed indoor tanning for everyone.
If this sounds like so much government meddling, consider this: Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer - and it's also one

.By now, we're all familiar with the concept of photobombs. They happen on the street, at parties, in family portraits - a danger that always lurks around the corner. But we thought that Fashion Week, at least, was safe. Who could distract from the beauty of a runway shot? Better question: Who would even dare?
Well, it's happened. Or rather, it almost happened. Buzzfeed did a little sleuthing and found a rather noticeable difference between the unedited wire photos and Style.com's roundup of the Jason Wu shoe this week: A woman had the audacity to wear bright-yellow pants in the front row, so bright they were actually distracting from the models on the catwalk. But luckily, Photoshop was there to save the day! Style.com brought the pants down to a modest beige in its slideshow, allowing readers to appreciate the runway looks and saving audience outfits for the street-style photogs.

Unless you've fallen off the social media map this week, you couldn't help but see an image of Kate Upton's barely-clothed body in the much-anticipated annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue every time you press Refresh. The bare-it-all beauty looked to David Kirsch, a fitness and wellness expert, founder of the Madison Square Club in NYC, and the man that, well, just about every have-to- look-good-practically-naked model has on speed dial.
Upton may have hit the genetic jackpot, but she still works to stay in top shape. "As far as nutrition," says Kirsch, "I had the benefit of being able to cook for her when we started training in the summer and getting her into my mindset and philosophy of sound mind, sound body - eating clean protein, lots of salads and greens, and avoiding everything processed." (Kirsch says she even smuggled in a bag of sliced cucumbers and celery to snack on at Knicks game. Now, that is dedication.) When she was really down to

When Valentine's Day rolls around, "aphrodisiac" is always the buzzword. There are a lot of foods out there that have been known to stimulate the libido, and while they aren't scientifically proven, they are certainly worth a try! Many of them have health benefits that will increase your body's overall health, and therefore your sexual health.
One of my favorite foods for this is chocolate, which stimulates serotonin production in the brain, leading to increased feelings of pleasure and wellbeing. Try adding unsweetened cacao powder into smoothies, or enjoy a piece of dairy-free dark chocolate

Stateside, those of us with no luck finding love in real life turn to the Internet for a helping hand - OkCupid, Match.com, and a host of other, lifestyle-specific dating sites. But if you've ever tried any of said sites, you know that not all of the fish in the sea are particularly fresh. So, here's the question: In a desperate moment, would you ever shell out cold, hard cash for time with a special someone? And we don't mean paying for dinner.

In China, many women say yes. ABC News reports that searches for "rent-a-boyfirned" have gone up 884% this year, presumably due to the unusual proximity of the Chinese Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day. And, while these services come at a price, it's nothing like the exorbitant rates we hear about on Law & Order: SVU. Of course, you have to factor in exchange rates and local price points, but a full day of fun will cost you about $128. Just going shopping? That'll be $6.42 an

Lingerie for Valentine's Day? Yeah, we know it's not a groundbreaking idea, but that doesn't mean we don't love to unwrap a sexy little somethin'. And this year, whether you're trading cutout hearts and tossing back truffles while watching HBO (no judgement), prepare for a little sexy indulgence, courtesy of - wait for it - JCPenney. The mass retailer has joined forces with one of our favorite lingerie lines, Cosabella, for a collection that's a bit lacy, a bit frilly, and completely crush-worthy.
With nothing over $35, the Cosabella Amour collection is filled with sexy-yet-sweet bra-and-panty sets, as well as cheekier nighties for whatever you're planning on the 14 (or 15, or 16...). The collection is available on JCPenney right now, which means you can order up something sexy and still have time to secure your V-Day plans.

Real women have voracious sexual appetites - or so it would seem, judging by the hot-and-heavy messages currently dominating pop culture. Go behind the societal myth, though, and one in three women say that they're actually uninterested in sex. And, it's not just premenopausal women we're talking about; in fact, studies show that they're more sexually driven and sexually active than women aged 18-26. Women of all ages, relationship statuses, and sexual orientations can have low (or missing) libidos.
Is it really a reason to worry? Jill Blakeway, renowned NYC acupuncturist, director of the YinOva Center and author of Sex Again, says it is. "Sex in a long relationship is one of the things keeps us bonded in ways that we don't necessarily think of," she says. "In Chinese medicine, we say there's an energetic connection we create when we have sex with someone, and that's really important to a relationship." So, what's happening to

Thank you, Mother Nature, for making New York Fashion Week more of a struggle than it usually is. In addition to canceled flights, delayed shows, and destroyed blowouts (is there a such thing as a blizzard-proof hairstyle?), we had to figure out how to style our old Wellies and rubber boots as best as possible. Not an easy feat, if you must know.
But for those more intrepid than us, the snow provided an opportunity to spotlight fashion fearlessness (not to mention, a stunning background for street-style photography). Ahead, the lucky soles that hit the NYFW streets just as Nemo hit us.
