Every 1,000 years or so, a new idea comes along and changes everything. An idea that reaffirms the rare, wonderful qualities that make us human. This is probably not that idea.
The name? Kandals The goal? To "redefine the shoe experience." We don't generally think of the "experience" of wearing things to protect your feet from the hard, rough, germ-covered ground as something that needs redefining, but who are we to stomp out change (pun intended)? We assume they're called Kandals because of their kan-do attitude, and in case you're wondering, no, they're not mandals designed by Kourtney Kardashian. Some will argue that between the pay (or lack thereof), busy work, and schlepping around - being someone's intern is hardly a breeze. Remember those days? But hey, you know what they say...you've got to start somewhere, right? Well, in a surprising new study by Glassdoor, it turns out Facebook interns may be an exception and are not exactly working for chump-change. In fact, they are living quite the lavish life and making more than the average American (who nets around $40,000 annually). We're talking $5,602 a month, averaging $67,000 a year. Um, suddenly being an intern again doesn't sound too shabby. On top of the mega bucks the social-media giant dishes out, it also supplies interns with employee perks like gym access, laptops, phones, and more. Perhaps it's not that much of a surprise, though, considering Facebook is ranked one of the top companies to work for, but $67,000 a year? Wowza! Okay, where do we sign up?

Be Like Mary J.: No More Drama
While voicing how you feel (especially when it's not in line with what you're hearing around you) might seem like the catalyst for a confrontation, it's actually the secret to making love, not war. "When you deny your feelings, you start to make up stories in your mind that drive you - and everyone else - totally nuts," says Bernstein. "These 'stories' can create chaos in your relationships and in your life." The stay-calm trick: State the reasonsQuinoa is 2013's Superfood of the Year — Here's Why This Tiny Seed Rules

Despite its relative youth with the North American health food(ie) crowd, quinoa's history dates back thousands of years. Originally grown in the Andes in South America, the Incas revered quinoa as the mother of all grains. In fact, it was so integral to their culture that the Spanish conquistadors forbade the growing of it as a way to control and suppress them. Lucky for us, quinoa love has come full circle and the UN has actually declared 2013 as the international year of quinoa.
You may be wondering why this unassuming little grain is such a nutritional superstar, but the answer is because it's actually not a32 Newlyweds Who Tied the Knot at City Hall: Check Out Their Style!

.Tipping isn't a city in China and it's certainly for more than just cows, but during the holidays, our general 15- to 25-percent rules are thrown into a tizzy. Who gets a gift? Is giving cash insulting? With so many different, complex relationships in our lives - our barristas often act as therapists and confidantes - how much is enough? We linked up with Tessa Baker at Lifehacker to chat about holiday extras, and whether or not to give the old greenbacks, or a more personal gift.
1. Every Day Relationships: Cash
Your old, faithful doorperson. That mail carrier who gives you a friendly wave. The superintendent who really helped you out over Sandy. All of those people deserve to be thanked during the holidays, but common etiquette is a sliding scale: You don't have to tip everyone equally. So, as the entire world has heard, a pregnant Kate Middleton was recently hospitalized for a rare form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum. The illness is actually really scary, with the key symptoms including nonstop nausea and vomiting, leading to serious dehydration and dangerous weight loss (notably, it has been reported that author Charlotte Bronte died of the disease). Even more shocking, however, is the lack of comment from health professionals being reported amidst all of the the alarming personal accounts of how serious and debilitating the condition is.
While hyperemesis gravidarum is rare (it affects only 1-2% of pregnancies, morning sickness affects close to 90% of cases) and treatable, thanks to modern availability of rehydration and renutrition via IV, but there isn't a cure per se. Some women that have suffered the condition have come forward saying that they found some relief via acupuncture. Others were offered Zofran (aUnder $100: 16 Pairs of Amazingly Chic Winter Boots
