It's now an annual rite of the holiday shopping a season --- a consumer advocacy that calls itself W.A.T.C.H issues a list of the "10 Worst Toys."
At a Boston news conference at the Franciscan Hospital for Children, the group put out its 2012 list Tuesday --- its 40th list by W.A.T.C.H.'s count --- and among the toys on this year's list are ones with small parts that are choking hazards for small children.
The group's director is James A. Swartz, who is also affiliated with the law firm Swartz & Swartz. He is a trial attorney whose practice includes cases involving product liability injuries. W.A.T.C.H. stands for World Against Toys Causing Harm.

Turns out U.S. Rep. Candice Miller is getting a committee chairmanship after all.
Turned back in her attempt to become chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Committee, the Harrison Township Republican on Friday was appointed the head of the Committee on House Administration.
The current chairman, U.S. Rep. Dan Lungren of California, lost reelection this fall. House Speaker John Boehner appointed Miller chairwoman of the committee.

Miller said she was "humbled and honored."
"This committee has the responsibility to ensure that the House runs in an effective and efficient manner which is vital as we work to meet the many challenges facing this great nation," she said. "Most importantly, this committee has jurisdiction over the federal election process and I am absolutely committed to making certain that we enact rules to ensure this nation continues to have open, free and fair elections."

The San Antonio Spurs were fined $250,000 on Friday for sending top players home before a nationally televised game against the Miami Heat, the National Basketball Association said on Friday.
The Spurs, who have one of the oldest rosters in the league, sent four of their top players home to rest before Thursday's game, which was the final game of a six-game road trip for San Antonio and their fourth game in five nights.
"The Spurs decided to make four of their top players unavailable for an early-season game that was the team's only regular-season visit to Miami," NBA Commissioner David Stern said in a statement.

"The team also did this without informing the Heat, the media, or the league office in a timely way. Under these circumstances, I have concluded that the Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans."
