Everyone needs a little bit of extra warmth for the holidays - even a horse.
Animal lovers from across the country were outraged when they saw a photo of a horse tied with a rope to a telephone pole in Bedford County, VA. It was raining, and temperatures were in the 30s.
The photo of the horse, named Thunder, was shared on Facebook and quickly went viral. Nearly 200 people called the Bedford County Sheriff's Office asking for something to be done.
A Sergeant went by the property to check on Thunder and speak to his owner, Tyree Bryant. He found the equine tied to the pole with a 75-foot rope, but was otherwise in good shape. Since livestock doesn't require shelter, even in bad weather, there was nothing more the Sergeant could do for Thunder.
Bryant tells WDBJ7 News that he tied Thunder to the pole to keep him from fighting with his other horses, and swears that he put the animal's best interests at heart.
