    • Shine Beauty Guru Review: Braun Satin Hair Brush

If you've been following me for awhile, you know that I'm a hair product junkie, especially since I've gone the natural route with my hair. Not only do I have to be even more careful of what I use on my hair but also what type of hair tools I use. So this Beauty Guru assignment is very timely for me because controlling frizz, keeping shine, and not damaging it are my top three priorities.

For this Beauty Guru assignment, we're reviewing the battery powered Braun Satin Hair Brush ($65). With the touch of a button a stream of Active Ions flow from a uniquely designed jet that promises to instantly give hair more shine as well as tame frizz and flyaways. The soft cushion pad and Seamless Bristle technology makes the brush gentle on your hair and scalp, preventing damage. I was really curious to see how this brush did on my chemical free hair so I straightened it out to see how it did.

A big plus for me was that the bristle and soft pad was very gentle on my fragile hair.

    • The Travalo for Perfume on the Go

Whenever I travel I am notorious for over packing! I want to take everything, including my many makeup bags and perfume bottles. Whether I'm taking a road trip or catching a flight I do have to realize that there is there a limit to what I can take. When I finally decide at the eleventh hour what I do want to take, I'm worried about them spilling in its ziploc or worse all over my clothes. Perfume bottles can be super cute to keep on your dresser but are notorious for not traveling well so I always feel limited when packing those.

      Enter the Travalo.

      TravaloTravalo

This new beauty gadget is a travel size atomizer that is meant to make traveling with your favorite perfume really easy. I had the opportunity to use one just in time for my trip to Blogger Brilliance in Tampa.

      TravaloTravalo

I love how this bottle is the perfect size (and that it's TSA approved!) so traveling with it is so much easier than bringing the whole bottle. I was able to fit it into my makeup bag with the rest of my

    • How To Wear White After Labor Day

I think we can all agree that there are a few fashion rules that can be tossed out the window. Not wearing white after Labor Day is definitely one of them and I know I've been breaking that "rule" for awhile now! Though it's easy to wear white in a place where it's hot all the time, I still want to feel like I'm still dressing like it's the Fall. So how can you incorporate the color white into your Fall wardrobe? Keith Fulsher, the dressbarn Chief Merchandising Officer is here to show us how!

      • Shy away from the summery, head-to-toe white look. Try mixing bold fall colors with one white or off-white piece such white jeans.
      • Fabric is huge factor. Forget linen and tissue-thin fabrics as they are not heavy enough or appropriate for the approaching season. Crisp white shirts, as well as those in off-white and cream are your best bets. Cashmere and other luxe sweater fabrics are also warming whites.

TLC Big SexyBig Sexy Cast from TLC

One of my guiltiest pleasures is Reality TV and TLC has quite a few that I absolutely love to watch. Shows like What Not To Wear, Say Yes to the Dress, Hoarders and even My Strange Addiction (don't judge!) are some of my favorite indulgences. So when they reached out to me about their show Big Sexy, I had to know what this reality show was all about!

      Big Sexy
(which premieres tonight at 10pm) is a three part mini series that follows Leslie, Tiffany, Audrey, Nikki and Heather, plus size divas looking to make their big fashion break in the Big Apple. Their mission is to prove that curvy girls can indeed make it in the fashion industry, whether it's designing clothes or modeling. We get to follow them as they attend fashion events, parties, and career opportunites as well as get a peek into their lives as curvy confident women. I love my fair share of fashion shows and this one in particular caught my attention because you rarely see women in my size range on any type of

    • Beauty Guru post: In Vintage Love with Pinup Clothing

During my little break from blogging, I spent some time thinking about changing up my wardrobe. As my 3oth birthday approaches I've been feeling a lot more adventurous and I want to bring in this new decade in my life with a bang! One trend I'm really anxious to try is the vintage/pin-up girl look. I already got a taste of it with this swimsuit and I love how curvy girl friendly the fashion is! In particular I wanted to get some retro inspired dresses in my wardrobe because I really don't have too many of those! I'm looking for something that is age appropriate and still sexy at the same time (I mean 30 is the new 20 right?!)

So how excited was I when I stumbled upon Pinup Girl Clothing ! Their clothes are amazing and had the exact type of dresses I was looking for! As I was going through not only their dresses, but separates, shoes, and outterwear, I was also pleasantly surprised with their prices. I'm thinking I would have to be shelling out hundreds of dollars just for a

      Dr. Miracle's Treatment Packs

We're talking hair today and for the past few weeks, I've been giving these treatment packs from Dr. Miracle's a test run in my hair routine. I thought having these come in little packs was a great way for someone like me to try out a few products at a time without hurting my pocket ($4.19 each box on their site). I'm really hoping that Dr. Miracle's plans on having full sized jars of some of these, because, as you will read, I have some clear favorites!

      The Restorative Pack

      Argan Hot Oil Treatment
: This pack that I've used as a pre-shampoo treatment has natural Vitamin E and antioxidants that aim to reduce the appearance of split ends while giving your hair moisture and shine. The product itself is very thick and if you have fine hair like I do, one pack will give you at least 3 applications. I followed the instructions, evenly distributing it through my hair and sitting under the dryer on low heat for about 5 minutes before hopping in the shower to shampoo

    • Fierce News: The Avon Voices Finalists Hit Hollywood

Since I last told you ladies about the Avon Voices Contest, the 23 finalists were flown to Hollywood, California to record their final performance videos. Not only did they get a fab makeover (still jealous!), professional photo shoots as well as the opportunity to have their own personal coaching sessions with two of the celebrity judges, David Pack, a Grammy award-winning singer/composer and music producer, and Maia, a Columbian music star. The video below gives you the complete Hollywood scoop! (Aren't those makeovers amazing?!)

Normally with singing contests we get little snippets here and there of the contestants practicing and then it's on to the final performance. Avon was awesome enough to LiveStream some of the one on one sessions so we could get a unique look behind the scenes. I checked them out myself and not only did I get to learn a little more about the finalists but the judges as well! I thought they were very warm, welcoming and extremely

    • Beauty Guru Post: Review of the Brazilian Peel (And a Bonus Interview!)

      brazilian-peel_1[1]

This review was a first for me because I have never tried an at-home facial peel before. In all honesty, when I think of a peel, I'm thinking lab lasers and red, blotchy skin that needs a few days to go away (did you guys see that Mob Wives episode??) The beauty junkie in me couldn't resist however when I was offered the opportunity to review the Brazilian Peel from Advanced Home Actives, a product that was voted as a Sephora best seller. It's a four week treatment that removes dead skin cells and aid in the skin's regeneration it needs to minimize fine lines, sun spots and dryness.

The kit itself is easy to use supplying you with four syringe looking tubes. Don't worry, you don't have to inject your face, but rather twist off the plastic cap and push glycolic and acai gel (the clear suff) and the Q-Mag neutralizer (the white stuff) into the palm of your hand. After mixing the two together, it's ready to be applied. It feels like a nice, warm gel when it goes on and

    • Beauty Blast: L’Oreal 360 Clean Deep Cleanser

Becoming a blogger and learning about the importance of removing your makeup every day, I am super paranoid of sleeping in my makeup! So having a nightly cleanser that is good at cleaning my skin before bed is essential. I ran out of this cleanser/makeup remover from Neutrogena and I've been on the hunt for it ever since. I haven't been able to find it so sadly I had to try something new. This one was a complete bomb so when it ran out I was on the hunt again. I went to my favorite place (Walgreens) and I came across the L'Oreal 360 Clean Deep Cleanser. What attracted me was the cute little spongy thingy that came with the bottle! I've never used something like that before and after reading the label (and liking the price point of $6.99) I went ahead and took it home.

Here's what the product promises: (details courtesy of Ulta)

      • Smaller pores: Go 360° shrinks the appearance of pore size and refinishes the skin's surface to reveal skin with more clarity.
