    • User Post: Things I've Seen This Week Involving My Kids That Scare Me!

There are some nasty things out there that scare the ever living daylight out of me. Maybe it's not as newsworthy as Arnold and Maria's marital demise or scenes showing the Japanese nuclear power plant as it was struck by the tsunami that fateful day or the ending of the world this Saturday but, this stuff scares the sugar out of me.

My Youngest Child's Body Covered in Poison Ivy

The other day Ava showed me a spot on her face that itched. I thought nothing of it because it was after bedtime and this is when all ailments show their face, so I shrugged it off. Then it moved. Her leg itched and was red. Then her neck. Jeez! My fearful friend, posion ivy decided it was time to visit me again. It has been awhile. I see she missed me.

The Neighborhood Kids that Play With Mine Have Pink Eye

See, I had seen the redness in Liv's eye Monday. I thought, eh it's allergy season. Well, today at the bus stop Josh's eye is itching. Rub, rub but not near me. She sees me and all of a sudden I've been

    • Beauty Guru Post: Apple's Product Picks For Right Now!

As a Shine Beauty Guru, I take my job seriously. Looking good and feeling good go hand and hand. When choosing products to use on a daily basis these criteria should be met. Beauty products should bring out the best in you and these products I am using right now do just that.

Skin is a huge issue in beauty. If the skin is dry and flaky, you don't look healthy. When the skin has broken out and is red and blotchy, you don't look clean. When the skin looks fresh and vibrant, you give off the impression you are healthy and clean and who doesn't want to be healthy and clean.

Sometimes too when you choose a product you may not like it first and I am going to renege on an article I wrote previously. So sorry Estee Lauder but I do love your mascara, it just took me a little time.

    • A user asks: Does your wedding ring have history?

When I got married, I was one broke chick. My soon-to-be husband was a server at an Italian restaurant and I was a hostess there. We lived off eating Hamburger Helper and Ramen noodles, shopping resale shops and garage sales and pinching pennies all of the time. When we chose to make the leap from live in lover to husband and wife, purchasing a wedding ring was a huge sacrifice out of our monthly budget. I really didn't even want a ring because I knew how much we would suffer financially.

Luckily an aunt worked at a local jewelers. She helped us pick out something for under $100. It's a plain simple band with tiny specks of diamonds encrusted on it. For nine years I wore this simple band alone. About a year ago, my mother in law was cleaning out her house. She and her husband were moving into a smaller home at the beach. When she was going through her things she located a ring her ex-husband, my husband's father, had given to her when they were married. The next time I saw her, she

    • User Post: How do you really feel about socks and sandals?

I used to laugh when mom would team a pair of socks up with sandals. She loved wearing white socks with her sandals and they weren't Birkenstocks. She wasn't some 'hippie' free lover whom shopped at health food stores, ate only organic products and let it mellow if it was yellow and flushed it down when it was brown. She didn't like her toes to be cold. After years of pleading my case against wearing socks with open toe shoes and walking ahead or behind her while out, she stopped. I had won this fashion argument and she came to thank me for it.

Today it is actually a trend. Models walk down the runway in them and many fashion blogs promote the product. It's understandable that fashion moves. One day women are cutting their bangs, curling them upwards and spraying so much hairspray on them, open flames should be avoided. Then next, the look is met with a scorned look and knowing laughs with friends. Fashion changes forms and looks constantly. This year white sunglasses seem

When you stay at home with your kids, many slowly retreat into a wardrobe that is less than chic. Before you realize it, you've worn the same shirt three days straight. When your husband comes home, he wonders what happened to his glowing bride.

      I know it can happen.

      I have done it.

We all need a little inspiration now and then.

I love this black and white stripe T-shirt!
