Spring continues to bring out an assortment of bold colors and we're loving it!
By Rue de Chic | Fashion – Wed, Apr 6, 2011 12:24 AM EDTThis spring, fall in love with a daring shade of blue
By Rue de Chic | Fashion – Sat, Mar 26, 2011 12:47 AM EDTCobalt blue was no doubt one of the hottest fall colors and from what we saw at last month's New York fashion week, this hot color is not going anywhere come fall 2011. This spring, we're going a little bit lighter on the cobalt blue color scale and Stars like Blake Lively and Jessica Alba are already in on this trend. The allure of this shade lies in the color's richness. It's elegant, regal and it makes a statement. It's also a beautiful alternative to the usual turquoise we always see come spring/summer season.

Halle Berry in a gorgeous Emilio Pucci number
We've already established that prints are in this season. From tribal prints to stripes and polka dots, it's all about going bold. For those that are a little hesitant about these statement prints, no need to worry, you can always go soft. The switch to softer colors came over year ago and this trend completely dominated the red carpet at premières and during the awards season.
With designers taking inspiration from the 70s, get ready for an influx of pastel prints. The beauty of this trend actually lies in it's timelessness - it's why it seems to pop up every few years. The look is incredibly soft and light as air….the fact that it almost creates a floating illusion on the wearer is just the cherry on top. Michelle Williams in Oscar de la Renta
Michelle Williams looks lady-like in a gorgeous lace Oscar de la Renta with a ribbon belt and black Mary Jane pumps
The maxi-dress has been a spring/summer staple for the past few seasons due mainly to its casual chic and comfort appeal. This spring however is pointing towards the return of the proper dress. Looks like the lady-like allure of the 50s style dress is hard to ignore. When you think of elegance, this dress style always comes to mind and thanks to designers like Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Monique Lhuillier and Muiccia Prada, it's no doubt ready to make a statement again this season.
Style Tip: It's all about the cut when it comes to a 50s style dress. The focal points of this style are the cinched waist and full skirt. They're also easy to wear in the day time and can be as fancy/glam as you want them to be for going out at night. For the daytime, go for fun colors like deep orange and fun prints like floral, tribal or

Kate Bosworth at the Burberry Prorsum Show
- Kate Bosworth goes edgy in a tan leather jacket and studded skirt at the Burberry Prorsum show in London
We've covered polka dots and the floral print. As we continue this week's coverage of spring's hottest trends, we're moving on to a very prominent material that has not only dominated the past 2-3 seasons but also shows no sign of cooling down any time soon - leather. It's been all over the runways, the red carpet and the stylish streets of New York, L.A, Milan, London and Paris and from the view of things at the most recent Fall 2011 shows, it is most definitely here to stay. It started with black and brown and then interesting shades of red and green...it was only a matter of time for the season's hottest material to merge with it's hottest shades. You can now find your leather in pastel colors like tan, blush and light gray. It's the perfect soft, feminine look with an edge.
