There's a fine line between dewy skin and gross, shiny skin. We've all fallen victim to the latter at one time or another (often with photographic evidence to prove it…darn flash!). Whether your complexion is comparable to an oil slick or you just have the occasional sheen, here are the measures you can take to do away with shine once and for all.
PREP: ONE LOVE ORGANICS EASY DOES IT FOAMING CLEANSER
If you're suffering from overly oily skin, the problem could be your cleanser. Harsh, sulfate-based cleansers can strip the skin of its protective barrier, causing oil production to kick into overdrive. Switch to a milder formula like One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser, which uses a trio of gentle botanicals that won't dry your skin out.
HYDRATE: KIEHL'S ULTRA FACIAL OIL-FREE LOTION
It's a myth that if you have naturally oily or combination skin, you don't need to moisturize. But if you do fall into either of those categories, it's important

With her bright skin and flowy hair, she's the ultimate in girl-next-door sexy, which, coincidentally, guys are obsessed with. Copy Jennifer's all-American glow with these tricks.
Regular facials are a great way to scrub off grody dead winter skin, but, really-who can afford them? That's why we love Kate Sommerville's exfoliating treatment. Just rub a little dab into your skin when y ou wash your face, let it sit for two minutes, and rinse it off. The scrub leaves your face feeling super-smooth with a pretty glow.

Zoya fleck effects
The finish of my new favorite polishes, Zoya Mylar Fleck Glazes, is jelly, which got me to thinking--what exactly is jelly nail polish?
Jellies are like glazes and are basically pigment added to a clear base. To make a jelly polish, about 25% opaque creme polish is mixed with 75% clear polish. Most jellies are still translucent after several coats and I think the best analogy would be to say that jellies are like lip gloss for nails while cremes are like lipstick.
You may also notice that a lot of glitters have jelly bases, which makes them great for layering and perfect for adding that extra oomph to an opaque color. Aside from Zoya's Fleck Effect collection, some of my other favorite jelly-based glitters are Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale, Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air, and Nubar Sour Candy.
For those of you that own jelly polishes, but want more of a color payoff, use a white base coat first. I used this trick myself recently after I

In 2006, New York Times writer John Tierney paired up with statistician Garth Sundem to create a mathematical equation that could predict the longevity of celebrity marriages. With five years of data at their disposal, the NYT team has revamped their marriage quotient, and they put some of our favorite couples on the fast track for divorce.

The equation foresaw the splits of celebs like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, as well as Britney Spears and K-Fed, while predicting the 15-year-mark for couples like Matt Damon and his wife Luciana and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
Tierney and Sundem originally predicted that fame is a factor in celebrity break ups, but now they insist that it is the type of fame (legitimate or tabloid) that holds weight in a relationship. Sundem told the Times, "It turns out that overall fame doesn't matter as much as the flavor of the fame. It's tabloid fame thatRead More »from Can Math Predict Celebrity Divorce?!

Have you heard of BoycottKim.com? It's a website where you can sign an online petition and pledge to boycott "any product sold or marketed by Kim Kardashian." This includes products like the Tria Beauty Hair Removal System, the Kardashian Kollection, and even sites like ShoeDazzle.
Now, I'll be honest with you. I don't really have anything against Kim K. In fact, I'm sort of obsessed with her smoky eye makeup (see how her makeup artist creates the look here). But I still think this whole "boycott Kim" movement is pretty hilarious, so I decided to look into what kind of products she makes/endorses to see if they're really that bad.
And … OK … maybe there's a good reason for the boycott. Some of the products she endorses don't even work. But I also found some Kardashian-branded items that are actually worth your hard-earned cash. So before you sign that petition,Read More »from 3 Kardashian Products that (Shockingly) Work -- and 3 to Boycott

Now that I'm aware that sleeping on your side can cause wrinkles, I've been wondering what other daily activities we're engaging in that-unbeknownst to us-are making us look more Shar Pei-like.
One of my favorite blogs, The Beauty Brains, recently reposted a news item with dermatologist Jessica Wu. In addition to addressing the wrinkle-causing effects of sleeping sideways, she discussed how gum chewing and straw-sucking might just be sapping the youth right out of your face.
Before spitting out my Orbit and pouring my Diet Coke into a wine glass, I wanted to see if other docs reached the same conclusions. According to Wu, gum smacking can lead to bulking up of the muscles around your jaw, contributing to a "jowl-y look" and "can contribute to wrinkles on the upper lip." I asked New Orleans dermatologist Mary Lupo for her opinion: "The lines around your mouth are more likely toRead More »from Is Chewing Gum Giving You Wrinkles?
