These hair gems are a must! Just about every gal I know spends as much money on her hair products as she does on her makeup and skincare goods.
Hair is important business, and picking out worthy products can be tough. You know the drill, ladies: You see an ad, or hear about a new hair product, get sucked in, and after trying it once, move this mediocre product to the back of the hair cabinet (because you can't bring yourself to toss it since you paid good money for it).
Yep, buying unworthy hair products ranks up there with dentist appointments and getting the flu. Well, here are 5 hair gems that will remain at the front of your hair cabinet:
Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Treatment Crème $9.43: This split-end crème is, in a word, amazing and worthy (O.K., two words). This ProMend treatment provides daily repair for split ends and problem areas, literally "binding" the split ends back together. Its keratin-infused ingredients will smooth your hair and give

Plenty of us spend hours straightening, spraying, and blowing out before stepping foot outside. And according to a new survey, all of that primping isn't purely for vanity's sake-a bad hair day can actually affect our mood.Related: The Best Beauty Products Under $9
In a poll of 2,000 women, participants averaged three bad hairs days a week-and reported feeling depressed for about 1 and a half hours when their locks woke up on the wrong side of the bed. And when it's bad, it's terrible: 12 percent of women have cancelled a date, 12 percent have rearranged an outing with their friends, and nine percent wouldn't go to a party with a messy 'do.

The other day I popped by Saks Fifth Avenue to check out the newest Tom Ford beauty collection for spring-I'm obsessed with his super-edited ultra-modern-yet-somehow-still-classic color range and, well, you know how we feel about his fantastic nail polishes. One of Tom Ford's new launches for spring is a gold lip lacquer that the makeup artist at the countered demo-ed on me-without applying another color first! Gold lip gloss on naked lips? Indeed.

Much to my surprise, the gold Tom Ford lip gloss looked great-really warmed up my skin tone in this really subtle way, plus the sparkle is really pout-enhancing-even worn on its own, without a color underneath. So I started asking around and found that gold lip gloss is, like, a total thing this spring-tons of brands, in all different price ranges, have issued their own sparkling gold shine sticks this season. Check out some

I'd just bought these new, gorgeous false lashes, and I couldn't wait to show them off to the hot guy I was meeting for dinner. Granted, I had never applied or worn false lashes before, but how hard could it really be? (You know where this is going ...)
After dessert, I excused myself and went to the bathroom. When I looked in the mirror, I realized the entire strip of fake lashes was hanging off the corner of one eye. I tried to stick them back on using my mascara (reason No. 52 to always bring your purse with you to the bathroom), but they stayed loose and wiggled for the rest of the night.

As if that wasn't bad enough, when I got home I realized that the loose strip of lashes was missing. (I still cringe every time I imagine him finding them stuck to the seat of his car.) By The chicks at TotalBeauty.com | Beauty on Shine – Thu, Mar 8, 2012 8:30 PM ESTWhile everybody else admired Angelina Jolie's leggy pose at the Oscars, I was glued to her lips. (Not literally. That would have been awkward. Also probably illegal.) Not that Angie's dress wasn't drop-dead gorgeous -- it was (and her leg was, too). It's just that her lips practically deserve their own Academy Award. They're that amazing.
Really, Angelina's bee-stung lips are the envy of women everywhere -- which is probably why so many of us try to emulate them. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there were more than 1,300,000 lip injections performed in 2011. That's a lot of Angelina wannabes -- and a lot of women going under the needle just to end up with nothing better than the overinflated trout pout you see in a scary amount of Facebook profile photos.

By Babble.com | Beauty on Shine – Thu, Mar 8, 2012 6:24 PM ESTDoes plastic surgery beauty trump natural beauty? Can surgically enhanced beauty ever compare to the natural kind?
A new book, A New Kind of Beauty, by New York-based artist Phillip Toledano, tackles whether plastic surgery is poised to create a new paradigm of what we see as beautiful, and if beauty that never existed previously can be created artificially.
The book features classical-type portraits of people dubbed the Botox Botticellis - those who have all undergone extreme plastic surgery procedures in an effort to appear physically perfect. The results are starkly less-than-perfect, but Toledano argues there's still something "transcendent" about his subjects.

The images call to question whether plastic surgery enhances beauty, or simply mocks the quest to achieve a better individuality and aesthetic.

Not only does this color make a bold statement against Keys' color-blocked black and white dress, but it also looks modern and chic with the barely-there makeup on the rest of her face.

The key to a flawless matte lipstick look begins with a smooth canvas which can be achieved with a lip scrub. We love Mary Kay's Satin Lips Set which comes with a lip mask to buff away peeling skin and a lip balm that delivers superior moisture. Feel free to use the same scrub that you use on your face, but be sure to moisten with water first for a less abrasive application.
