LOVE it.I've always been a grocery store makeup kind of gal, but there was this one time that someone gave me Chanel eye shadow … and it was revolutionary. It made me realize that expensive makeup may even be more economical than cheaper products of lesser quality.
Think about it: I've had the same Chanel eye shadow for years (yes, I know you're supposed to throw away makeup after a certain amount of time, but I'll be damned if I'm going to toss this stuff) because it doesn't lose its quality; it never clumps or causes unseemly lines. I've had store brand eye shadow fall out of its tray and crack upon first use.
So how do you know what's worth the splurge and what's not? Here's what I found out...

Simple, Classy Nails
Simple, classy nails are where it's at for men. While women love trying fun nail designs, most guys think it's a tacky if you have nails covered in hearts or palm trees. Try a shade like Passion by OPI, all the rage at New York Fall 2012 Fashion Week, which you may have heard is going on right now. Also, MAC Cosmetics is customizing nail colors for a bunch of designers, like Zac Posen, for Fashion Week this year, so you should check their colors out, too. They have great matte shades.
But Go Nuts With Your Pedicure, If You Wish
While it's smarter to keep your nails simple, surprise your guy with some crazy toes this winter! Hopefully your friends and family will see them too so your artistic pedicure prowess isn't completely wasted on just your dude -- but who knows, he'll probably appreciate it! Not all of us are lucky enough to have been born with full, pouty lips. There are products and procedures out there promising to plump our pucker but do they really work? Lets take a look at the technology behind the various lip plumping options.
How do temporary lip plumpers work?
Temporary lip plumpers usually come in the form of a gloss or lipstick. They work by temporarily irritating lips, causing them to swell slightly. That tingly feeling is not your imagination, it's your lips reacting to a chemical like caffeine, mint, cinnamon or menthol that most plumpers use.See more: The Healthiest Cities for Women
Pros: Inexpensive, temporary way to get a slight plumping effect.
Cons: Irritating and continued use could lead to excessive irritation and potential lip damage. Also, some people do experience allergic reactions to the "plumping" chemicals (particularly menthol or cinnamon). Are there permanent

By The chicks at TotalBeauty.com | Beauty on Shine – Tue, Feb 14, 2012 7:12 PM ESTOnce upon a time, women everywhere would engage in an odd ritual known as [shudder] wearing flesh-colored pantyhose. Some brave dames would even go so far as to flaunt their hose-clad feet in various styles of sandals. Why they'd choose to partake in such an ill-advised custom remains a mystery, and these days, by and large, skin-toned tights seem to have gone the way of the cassette player. Or have they?
Seems a British company called Skin Kiss has released new "fake tan tights" that start out flesh-colored and within two hours have turned both you and the tights a golden shade of bronze.
This is not a post-Valentine's day prank. The hosiery works "via a patented technology" that allows tanning-product infused microfibers to distribute evenly across the legs, creating an all-over "tan," which will last up to two hours after you remove the tights.

3 Ways to Make Color Last1. Use shampoos and conditioners made for color-treated hair. These products contain silicones that preserve color. Also, make sure the label reads sulfate-free. "Sulfates are powerful detergents that can remove hair dye," says David Stanko, Redken's haircolor consultant. If you're already experiencing fading, try a color-depositing shampoo. They contain small amounts of dye to revive color and cover grays that have started to show.
2. Protect your hair from heat. When you color, the protective cuticle layer surrounding each individual strand gets stripped away so the dye can penetrate, explains Joel Warren, co-owner of the Warren-Tricomi salon in New York City. This makes hair more vulnerable to dryness from heated styling tools-and dry hair looks flat. Keep yours hydrated by

women wearing heelsThere's no ideal place to get into a tiff with your significant other, but at a black-tie family wedding just before his birthday and Valentine's Day has to be on the list of most inconvenient. But that's what happened with my guy and me this past weekend. We sparred over something which I knew in retrospect would seem really silly: My shoes. I had put together my entire ensemble for said wedding at the last minute, and that meant I was wearing adorable, sexy, but completely new, stiff, and uncomfortable patent leather peep toe pumps all night. When the band started grooving, my instinct was to slip off those bad boys and party rock barefoot. But the BF said it was inappropriate to be sans shoes at a black-tie event ...

1. Skin sloughers: Get a quick brightening boost by peeling away the dull stuff at skin's surface using an AHA such as glycolic acid. New at-home peels get pretty close to the results you'd expect from in-office versions. Try Brazilian Peel, $78 for four weekly treatments, which has a whopping 30-percent glycolic-acid peel and a self-neutralizer that gradually deactivates the acid over a 10-minute period.
