While the good things about Summer (fireflies at dusk, piña coladas by the pool, fresh caprese salads) outweigh the bad, there are still some challenges that this warm-weathered season poses. Hair color can fade in the sun, and those harmless-looking espadrilles you just bought may even leave you ridden with painful blisters. We warned you this day was coming, and looks like it's here: CC cream world domination is upon us. Like BBs before them, the new batch of color correcting face perfectors started off with a trickle, launching a cream here and a cream there, and then exploded onto the scene in the course of a few short weeks. Pretty much all of our go-to brands now have a CC to their name, and those that don't appear to have their own in the works.

Tip: A peachy shade is ideal for yellowish or olive skin, berry looks great on dark skin, and a rosy pink works on everyone. For the most natural effect, pick a shade that matches the inside of your bottom lip.

South Koren Beauty StandardsI recently came across an article provocatively titled"I Wasn't Beautiful Enough to Live in South Korea." The half-Korean author, Ashley Perez, spent time in Korea teaching English and felt that the beauty standards were far too extreme. I knew I wanted to share her story, but it's taken me some time to formulate my thoughts on it.
In Korea, the ideal beauty has pale skin, a double-folded eyelid, a smaller head, and is very thin. These standards are widely recognized and openly discussed as evidenced by this video from Seoulistic. It's a bit jarring in its honesty, even though the narrator often gives the disclaimer that these criteria depend on personal taste.
The article and video may be shocking to people who aren't Korean, but not much of this surprised me. Growing up with a Korean mother, one thing I have accepted is that many Korean women are extremely blunt. There is not a lot of subtlety when it comes to appearance, and egos are certainly not coddled. My mother isn't shy toHow to Take an Amazing Selfie

Getty ImagesListen, obviously we aren't all born with hair as shiny as Emmy Rossum's.
However, when I happen to find out which hair shine product Emmy used on a given night (in this case, at the Critics' Choice Television Awards), I rejoice a little bit--at least now we can all take another good shot at achieving Emmy-like gloss.

"My inspiration for Emmy's hair came from the 1970s Valentino campaigns by Helmut Newton," says celebrity hairstylist Giannandrea, who applied Kerastase Sublimateur Jour Hair Styling Smoothing Cream to Emmy's damp hair before blowing it smooth using a large round brush. After wrapping sections around a curling iron (she added setting lotion for hold), she brushed out Emmy's soft waves with a Mason Pearson brush and then applied Frederic Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream from roots to ends "for this incredible healthy, silky, shiny finish."

So next time you're going out and don't know what to do with your lids, think "bronze Anna." It's a no-brainer, really.
