The Ultimate Election Workout The Ultimate Election Workout the bipartisan way to burn calories

The presidential election is just a few days away, and we are only going to get more sick of the candidates' ads. Why not turn off the TV and take your frustration out at the gym? Gyms on the east coast have created a new "Fit for Office" group fitness class that's a presidential challenge! I sampled the 55-minute election-themed circuit class that whips gym-goers into shape across all party lines.

We warmed up in "The Primary," then we hit muscle and cardio circuits with equipment like kettle bells for "Swing States," the BOSU for "Balance the Budget," battle ropes in "Battle Ground States," and high steps for "Get on your Soapbox," on 10 stops of the "Campaign Trail."

Next you "Find a Running Mate" and grab a partner to "band together" with tubing moves, perform partner push-up claps and "Pass the Buck" with a medicine ball. The instructor whistled to move us onto each one-minute circuit stop, and

  • 5 Myths About TeaBy Kerri-Ann Jennings, M.S., R.D., Associate Nutrition Editor, EatingWell Magazine

You probably already know that tea is an incredibly healthy beverage. In fact, studies show that if you drink tea regularly, you may reduce your risk of Alzheimer's and diabetes, plus have healthier teeth and gums and stronger bones. But not everything you've heard about tea is true. Here are 5 myths about tea busted:

Must-Read: Health Benefits of Tea, Plus Buying and Steeping Tips

Myth 1: Adding milk to tea negates the health benefits. Although some studies have suggested adding milk to tea undoes its heart-healthy benefits, recent research says that's not necessarily the case... roughly the same amount of catechins (antioxidants linked with a reduced risk of some cancers) were absorbed from milk-tinged tea as from plain black tea, according to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Myth 2: Peppermint tea is a good choice for tummy troubles. While a cup

Bonus: Diners also report enjoying their meals more. Experts speculate that eating in a relaxed environment helps you slow down and savor your food, so in the end, you consume less.

    Brown-bag it more often
A new study in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics discovered that women who avoid eating lunch out tend to eat less overall calories. Study participants who went out to lunch at least once per week lost five pounds less than those who brought lunches from home."Eating in restaurants usually means less individual control over ingredients and cooking methods, as well as larger portion sizes," the authors wrote in the study. Treat Monday Lunch Like Friday Happy Hour

Studies show that people who eat in front of their computers consume more calories, feel less full and are hungry again sooner than usual. Janis Jibrin, Best Life's lead nutritionist, suggests stepping away from your desk and eating with a friend--even better, choosing a bistro or a bar with high-top tables and giving your stools to other patrons. Standing burns 40 percent more calories than sitting, and Jibrin says there's no medical reason you shouldn't eat on your feet. If you take a similar approach at breakfast and drink your coffee while standing (that's how the Italians do it) and then spend 30 minutes checking your email out of your seat, you'll trim about 100 total calories from your day.

All that leftover Halloween candy can be downright scary. Those colorful ''fun-sized'' bars may tempt you to have just one piece, but beware-those tiny, innocent-looking treats can add up if you're not careful! Some people forgo the chocolate candies altogether in favor of low-fat choices, such as Starbursts and Twizzlers, thinking that they are doing their waistlines a favor. But does low-fat always mean low-sugar? If you were to choose between a chocolaty fun-sized bag of peanut M&Ms and a serving of Twizzlers, which one would be the least sugary choice?

    The Winner: Peanut M&Ms!

One fun-sized pack of peanut M&Ms clocks in at 90 calories, 5 grams of fat, and 9 grams of sugar. In comparison, one serving of Twizzlers (3 Twizzlers) has 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 15 grams of sugar. (As a bonus, you'll get 1.5 grams of filling protein from the M&Ms, whereas Twizzlers contain zero protein.) It just goes to show that low-fat doesn't always mean

Halloween marks the beginning of a two-month season packed with parties and desserts-now that's scary for anyone who is trying to manage his or her weight. Beyond the fun-size (and therefore calorie-controlled) candies of Halloween, several fall treats are big calorie bombs. Be on the lookout for these surprisingly high-cal foods, which can add up fast if you let your guard down.

    Pumpkin Flavored Baked Goods
Pumpkin itself is a healthful food. Plain pumpkin puree contains a dose of vitamin A and fiber for a small amount of calories. But pair it with sugar, cream cheese frosting, shortening and butter and you've got a high-cal treat dressed in a healthy-looking orange outfit. Restaurants and coffee shops are the biggest villains, promoting their pumpkin scones, muffins, donuts and breads, which can contain up to 630 calories per serving. Don't let "low-fat" versions trick your either; low-fat is not the same thing as low-calorie. Your best bet is to

We're into the flu season. If you have the flu, you may have symptoms such as fatigue, muscle aches, cough, sore throat and stuffy nose. You may be able to prevent the flu by getting the annual flu vaccination. But while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone ages 6 months and older should get the vaccine, only a fraction do.

Getting the word out about the importance of the flu vaccination and alternatives to the traditional vaccine, such as the Fluzone Intradermal vaccine, is why NCIS Los Angeles actor Chris O'Donnell has partnered with Sanofi Pasteur. He and Carlos E. Picone, M.D., F.C.C.P., Vice-Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., talked to EmpowHER about the importance of getting the flu vaccination, the Fluzone Intradermal vaccine, as well as about Chris and his work with AmeriCares.

Why is it so important for people to get the flu vaccine?

    Artificial Sweeteners

Think artificial sweeteners are a diet "do" because they contain no calories or sugar? Think again. Studies suggest that regular consumption of artificial sweeteners like aspartame (found in diet sodas) may actually lead to weight gain, says Rachel Beller, RD, founder of the Beller Nutritional Institute. It turns out they can trigger our bodies to crave sweets and sugar. Beller advises cutting back gradually: "If you were using three packets in a cup of tea or coffee, for two weeks cut down to two packets, then cut down to just one packet for the next couple of
