Tons of anticipated films are coming out this year that are based on bestselling novels, including the next installment of the Hunger Games franchise and a new romance from Nicholas Sparks. To get you up to speed, here's a list of all the movies coming out this year that are based on books.

  • Parker:
    What it's about: The book series by Donald Westlake revolves around a murderous thief who, despite his line of work, does his best to maintain a moral code.
    Who's starring: Jason Statham will play the title role of Parker, and Jennifer Lopez takes on a new type of role; she plays a frumpy real estate agent.

  • Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion:
    What it's about: A zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one is his victims; their relationship might shift the course of events of the entire zombie world.
    Who's starring: Nicholas Hoult plays the zombie R with Teresa Palmer as his human love interest.
    Release date: Feb. 1


  • Beautiful Creatures:
    What it's about: In the tradition of Twilight, this young adult novel takes on supernatural romance in a small town. Teenager Ethan falls in love with Lena, who can use magic and must decide whether she'll use her power for good or evil on her 16th birthday.
    Who's starring: Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert are playing Ethan and Lena, while Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, and Emmy Rossum are also in the cast.

  • Safe Haven:
    What it's about: In Nicholas Sparks's latest romance, Katie, a woman with a mysterious past, starts a new life in a small Southern town. She tries to keep to herself until she meets Alex, a handsome widower with two small kids.
    Who's starring: Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel will star in the adaptation of the novel.

  • Admission by Jean Hanff Korelitz:
    What it's about: A Princeton admissions officer loves her job but is challenged when she meets a promising student who doesn't necessarily measure up to the college's standards.
    Who's starring: Tina Fey is playing the admissions officer opposite Paul Rudd.

  • Carrie:
    What it's about: In Stephen King's celebrated fright-filled novel, a sheltered high school girl named Carrie gets pushed a little too far and uses her telekinetic powers to punish her tormenters.
    Who's starring: Chloë Moretz will re-create the role that was first played by Sissy Spacek in 1976. Julianne Moore will play Carrie's mother with Judy Greer as the kind Miss Collins.

  • Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan:
    What it's about: The son of Poseidon and his friends head into the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece.
