    Boost Your Self-Confidence at Work

Feel like a failure at work? Don't see yourself as competent? Boost your self-confidence by increasing your knowledge base. The more you know, the higher your esteem will soar. Do:

1- Tackle your weakness. Few people are a jack of all trades and, unfortunately, their shortcomings can hurt their career. Combat this problem by getting help. Take a class to strengthen your weak area or delegate out tasks that you don't handle well and, as a result, slow you down.

2- Know company policy. Boost your self-confidence at work by understanding the rules and regulations laid out by your employer. For example, if you aren't allowed to release certain types of information to the public, you should find out before sending an outside entity classified details about a new idea through e-mail.

3- Learn computer programs. Stay up on any new (or old) ones that effect your department. Don't let your fear of technology hold you back. Start by completing the tutorial and then practicing what you know each day. After a while, you'll get into a groove and be able to manipulate any computer program to your advantage.

4- Sign up for special projects.

Be adventurous and get out of your lane. You'll never know how smart and talented you are unless you tackle unchartered territory. Boost your self-confidence at work by signing up for projects that challenge you. Begin with the familiar and then go for the unknown. The skills you gain will allow you to expand on your current duties.

5- Find yourself a good mentor. Your mentor should be in a position you want to be in one day and also have the kind of qualities you'd like to emulate. He (or she) can cheer you on to greatness and prevent you from making mistakes that can upset the boss. Your mentor also can introduce you to people that will show you a shortcut to a promotion.

6- Be an authority in one area.

This is the quickest way to boost your self-confidence at work and simultaneously become a go-to-guy. You'll quickly see that nothing feels better than knowing you're needed because of your talent. So, pick an area and get busy. Give yourself a timeline to follow before you offer your expertise to others.

Use one of these six suggestions and you'll have the self-confidence you need to accomplish every thing you desire at your job.
