Drinking lots of caffeine can cause an increase in energy during the day, but after the effects of caffeine wear off some women experience caffeine crash. The main symptom of caffeine crash is extreme fatigue. Extreme dieting, alcohol consumption and some prescription medications or herbal supplements can also cause extreme fatigue.
When should you see the doctor for extreme fatigue in women? If you are feeling excessively tired for more than two weeks, it's time to seek medical attention - but this is just a general rule. If there are other symptoms associated with extreme fatigue like depression, weight gain, fever or pain, medical attention should be sought prior to the two-week mark.
Extreme fatigue in women is common and often associated with a simple cause like stress, excessive caffeine intake or other lifestyle choices, but there are also health conditions that can cause you to feel tired. Your doctor can address your condition on a personal basis. Keep track of all symptoms, medications you are taking and caffeine intake. Your doctor may be able to use this information to better treat your condition.
