11 Ways to Shorten Your Morning Routine

Here's a little glimpse into my morning routine:

7:00 a.m.: Alarm goes off, hit snooze button, repeat until about 7:30
7:30: Lurch up in a panic because I'm already running late, jump into shower
7:45: Attempt to blow dry hair into some sort of presentable style, get round brush stuck in tangles
8:00: Finally free round brush from hair, finish drying
8:10: Start applying makeup, really running late now, in my haste accidentally jab myself in the eye with mascara wand
8:12: Remove eye makeup that was ruined by watering eyes (dang mascara wand), start over
8:20: Unbelievably behind now, finally finish makeup, try to decide what to wear
8:35: Run out the door (likely wearing two different shoes, oops)

Clearly something has got to change. I would love to be able to get ready in the morning quicker (and in turn be able to sleep in a little later). Fortunately for me, and you, I've found these tips to shorten my morning routine. Check them out, each will guarantee at least a few more worry-free presses of the snooze button:

Tip 1: Skip the Shampoo
The ultimate way to save time on styling your hair -- don't wash it. If you have greasy and or flat roots, spritz them with dry shampoo (try Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo, $24). Part and spritz until your whole root area is coated and then brush the dry shampoo through your strands for even distribution. -- Taylor Babaian, Los Angeles-based hair and makeup artist

Tip 2: Don't Skip Blush
If you have time to apply only one makeup item, choose blush. It "instantly enlivens the complexion and a great blush literally makes you look alive," says Petra Strand, creator and founder of Pixi cosmetics.

Tip 3: Pre-Dry Your Hair
To cut down on blow drying time, follow these steps courtesy of Patrick Jagaille, hairstylist from the Serge Normant Los Angeles Salon:

Step 1: Squeeze excess water out of your hair after showering.
Step 2: Apply the styling products you normally use.
Step 3: Part your hair the way you want to wear it then comb through your strands.
Step 4: Let hair air dry while you do your makeup, drink coffee, dress the kids, etc.
Step 5: Now blow dry -- it should take about half the time.

Tip 4: Opt for Multi-Use Products
Save a step by using foundation that contains sunscreen or other skin-benefiting ingredients (try Shiseido The Makeup Lifting Foundation SPF 16, $42.50). Apply it with your fingers (make sure they're clean) to blend it in quickly. Bonus tip: "If you can't blend [foundation or concealer] into your skin quickly, it's not the right color," Babaian says.

Tip 5: Choose the Right Tools

Blow dryer:
"If you need speed, you should have a professional dryer. It doesn't matter what brand it is or the size," Jagaille says. He also recommends using the nozzle to focus the heat and power of the dryer.

Flat iron and curling iron:
"More money spent will save time," says Babaian about the importance of buying professional-grade irons. She claims that higher end tools are better made and get hotter, which equals less time spent styling.

High end hair tools are a must....don't even mess around with the lower brands...you just end up with a bag of useless appliances.

One of my biggest time savers is skipping the leg-shave and wearing long pants that day...but that is only if I'm really in a hurry. Otherwise I like to get up at first alarm and give myself enough time to get ready ... it's my part of the day and I like to enjoy it without stress.

I wake up @ 5:45 I clean the kitchen every morning mop, make my husband his breakfast and lunch then by 6:30 I make my bed, change my son give him his milk then by 7am i go in the shower and get ready, thank God that I work in a casual environment, I will sometimes skip on all the makeup except my blush, then I get my girls up and ready for school and drop them off . I go in @ 8am, so that is the only way I make it on time if I wake up early

I am FOREVER running late. I get up at 5:45 (take my shower the night before) hit the bathroom, brush teeth, floss, wash my face, put on make up, comb my hair, get dressed. 6:10, wake up the baby, get him dressed, feed him (either oatmeal or a bottle to go) and we TRY to be out the door by 6:25...that NEVER happens. I am literally...late....everyday. I just refuse to wake up any earlier.

showering, shaving and washing hair the night before is my trick to getting out of the house on time but going to bed, clean and smelling great, often leads to great romance so I end up showering again in the morning...but it's worth it.

To save time I use only a few makeup products: Maybelline Pure Makeup Foundation, Sonia Kashuk Bronzer in Golden 48, Clinique high impact Mascara, and Estee Lauder soft smudge eyeliner in Soft Brown. This look is natural, pretty, and looks good in any season! It's perfect for school or work

    I shower the night before.

Go in the living room, turn on the tv and lap top, then walk to the kitchen to make my oat meal.

I am done eating my oat meal and checking my e-mail by 5:30am.

I answer some question on yahoo shine until 5:45am then i put on my scrubs, brush my teethe, put on blush, shoes, and then I kiss my husband bye. I am out the door no later than 6:05.

the best and quicker way to blow dry is to bring all your hair to the front or turn head down, brush it properly and then just blow dry it and its done this will give good volume to hair. but after that wot i usally do is use elvive conditioning spray and thats it done. (3
