All natural, all adorable, all cheap(!!!): Patyka Family Line

partner

Sure, in an ideal world, everyone would collectively decide to stop dousing themselves in chemicals and switch to organic. (Sigh.) But we also know that when it comes to food--I'm talking to you Whole Foods--and beauty products, natural ingredients can get spendy, right? (I have a receipt on my fridge for a $3 tomato, no kidding!) But wait 'til you get a load of this. The French and the Japanese can't get enough of their Patyka Family Line, and now Americans are free to join them. Once you know about this line and have tried it, I think you might be persuaded to literally have the whole family using it, too. Consider the extraordinary benefits, below...

We'll just pretend that we don't notice the chic packaging here: after all, it's what's inside that counts. But it's darling, isn't it!? Plus the recycled bottles are also hefty enough to where you can throw them around in the tub, unlike certain precious glass jars and breakable plastics. Here's what's not inside the bottles: silicone, petroleum products, parabens, sulfates, phenoxythanol, polyethylene glycol, synthetic fragrance or color and genetically modified organisms. NONE of it. They're also never tested on animals, the company is anti-pollution, and each product in the line is certified organic by Ecocert and Cosmebio, and the good folks at those organizations don't eff around (unlike certain companies here who slap the word "organic" on any old label).

Beware Greenwashing: Think twice before buying so-called "natural" products.

Now that all the logistics are out of the way, let's get to the products and their respective price points. I liked both the clean, simple Organic Foaming Face Wash ($15 for a whopping 8.4 ounces), and the gentle with just a hint of verbena Cleansing Milk for makeup removal, (also $15). The Organic Shower Gel in Mint ($14) was as stimulating and refreshing as you'd expect mint to be (reminded me of a certain cherished Aveda shower gel!), and I felt all princessy rubbing down with the Body Cream Rosewood (mint and rose, who knew?) afterwards, which contains the rosewood for its natural decongestant properties and hydrates with shea butter and sesame seed oil.

They also make different flavors like orange and lime, and in addition to the shampoo, body and face care that's available now, later they'll be rolling out baby stuff, hand soaps and even dandruff shampoo. And even though everything has a lovely smell, none of it is even remotely overpowering (because it's natural), which is why I really think that you can convince your significant other and anyone else in your pad to use it without hesitation. Of course, I don't blame you if your first impulse is to stow a secret stash of it. But that'll have to wait a week, when the line hits the shores here in October. (Read about The Body Shop's green initiative and check out their eco-friendly products that are available now!)

Seriously, since when were fancy French imports and organic products so accessible? Loves it.
