Dead pets turned into fur jackets, apparently very warm

Um...WOW. OK. So there's this couple, Beth and Brian Willis (pictured*) from England who really loved their dogs and then their dogs died and they had a lot of hair from their dogs and they spun the hair into wool and then they...MADE SWEATERS. FROM THEIR DEAD DOGS' HAIR.
Said Mr.Willis of the garments:
"They are extremely warm and pretty much waterproof. Unless it is banging it down, it is fine. I've always got a sweat on by the time I get from the bus to the shops," [Daily Mail]

*I know this is horrible, but at first I thought this was a story/picture about Geraldine Ferraro.

This is so wrong... in so many ways. How about a picture of the dog on the mantle as a memorial instead, the way most of us might handle the loss of our pets.

What are you all complaining about; I really don’t see anything wrong about it. Let see, ok, they made a fur jacket out of their pets, but I am sure the dogs had a great life with these guys and that they die because of an illness. So? At least they picked something already dead and didn’t kill a still living dog just to get the coat, like in China killing thousands of foxes in the name of “fashion” thanks to all the Americans and Europeans consumers.

    Hi all,

They did not "skin" the dogs and use the pelts. Hair is constantly brushed from the dogs. Some dogs shed much more than others and produce garbage bags full of fur in 1 year. The fur is then spun, like wool, cashmere etc, then knitted or crocheted and they washed with a solution of soap and vinegar to remove doggy odor.

We have Leonbergers and to raise money to help save rescue, we spin the fur and make afghans, wallets, scarfs, shawls, remembrance roses and squares. It like keeping a little memory at hands reach.
